| Winston, I don't think Mark will use songs he has already used on Trash under the name of Level42 (though to be honest, some of them are good enough to do so) but I recall it written down that although some were considered rubbish at the time (hence the album title), other were simply unsuitable for what they wanted to acheive at the time or were unfinished - but still perfectly good songs. If I were MK and had all this material sat in a cupboard somewhere, I would use some of it, the question is... will he? Ian. This message was sent from the on-line version of my Freeserve account. Just wanted to confirm the indeed Duel by Propaganda is indeed a Trevor Horn production, as is Grace Jones slave to the rhythm and most of Seals CD’s. Also Owner of a lonely heart by Yes benefited by the talents of Mr Horn.
What has this got to do with Level 42, Julian Mendelsohn producer of RITF and SATS trained under Trevor horn at Sarm recording studios. Trevor owned this complex as used by many top bands during the 80’s and 90’s.
Hope this helps

Much of the stuff I have heard on his label I like-- Seal, The Art of Noise, etc. (I don't think the second Propaganda album was one of his productions, and the lead singer had died before it was recorded-- a 'pleasant' album, but not the same caliber.) I should have added Jean Luc Ponty to my list yesterday. --David-- -- _____________________________________________________________________ The Law Office of | WWW: http://www.Loundy.com/ | E-Mail: David @ Loundy.com David J. | Eric threaded: >> But in my opinion, NO band >> in the world EVER needs two drummers. The Allman Brothers Band is the ONE exception to that rule. Get the dts version of "Live at the Fillmore East" and you'll hear how dual drummers can make it work. (but you may need to face the rear surrounds). John

I'm glad to see that no-one - so far - has been foolish enough to bid $75 for the Changing The Guard cd single on eBay. | Hi all, I'm still alive, just too busy to write about Level 42 :) to reply to comments of ERiC!, just some corrections! indeed not too much Level 42 I'm playing, I am a house DJ playing from deep over vocal to tribal, no trance or cheese, but sometimes depending on the place I spin some decent rap & R&B, since that's quite popular over here. And I'm working in some of the biggest clubs in Luxembourg, not the Netherlands ;) Cheers to all! ------------------------------------------------- "Be careful what you wish for, you might get it." _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. >> From: Monique Williams <mowllms @ yahoo.com> Alex I owe you an AMEN/HALLELUH! You seem to have captured the essence of performing and true love of muzik. << Damn! I said something that somebody took seriously?! I must be losing my touch. Other stuff I'm listening to: Robbie Williams' "Feel," over and over and over again. Is it the greatest song of the year, or is it just my mood these days? "Cursed," from the same _Escapology_ album, is worth a listen, too. ...Alex...

>J, do you really think the Beatles are/were over-rated ?? personally i agree with J, the beatles had pretty much no musical or lyrical talent once out of the 60s. Their music was very repetetive, and was based around only 5 chords. Lyrics wise, once they had to write for longer than 3 minutes they came up with naaah na naa naah (hey jude). >most music you hear today (apart from classical) evolve originally from the Most of the music today has just evolved from classical itself, dance music is just quicker, more electronic version of the baroque waltz for example.not everyone was based on Elvis, and Elvis himself was based on something to begin with. Everything that is down is just a variation of whats happened before.
i think we all know that S Club ruled lol =p

dean.osborn @ bt.com > J, do you really think the Beatles are/were > over-rated ?? hey Dean, the short is answer _Hell Yes_. But that said, I think one, even one that finds the Beatles music anything other than fantastically boring and sappy-nonsense-pop, has to admit that they are indeed overexposed and over-mentioned. This goes with anyone that is, basically, a house-hold name. Mozart, no doubt brilliant is far more well known than composers of higher caliber. Picasso, Jack Nicholson, John Updike, et al. Obviously their is no refuting the impact the B's had, just about ever musician of note has mentioned them, covered them, or even parodied them (like the far more brilliant and ground breaking Frank Zappa). however, I do feel that a major part of their suck-sess was the coming of age to that ever-lovable device, the glass teat, or what is better known as: television. As we've disgust (sic) in the past, this modern age of video transcends the medium of music. Hell just the other night I watched a Robbie Williams video, not someone I care for, but the video was interesting, and then, ba-boom, for some odd reason the song became kinda catchy. Hence the B's suck-sess. Just about all of the musicians I would have cited (if need be) above, when mentioning them, mention the visual experience. I only recall Joe Walsh mentioning the music (something about not being able to figure out the fingering to xxx (insert some song title here) only to be baffled later to find that xxx (insert beatle here) was playing the top strings, and xxx was playing the bottom 3 strings. Exciting? Brilliant? Banal? You judge… I think any modern day, meaning younger, musician saying they are influenced by the sound of the B’s is merely posing. As you say, with the influence of blues (as you rightly cite), not too mention all the electronica and hopefully jazz, well, the B’s are way passé. The Lennon myth and murder kept them (sadly) in the euphoria realm, and for some bloody reason “sir paul” keep being annoying. Yes, yes, I know this is all some kind of sacrilegious banter, very rarely have I encountered anyone that agrees with me fully on this (although there have (thankfully) been a few). It’s beyond fashionable to think the B’s are the niftiest thing ever. Me? As Geddy say, “I will choose Free Will.” . > And on that note, a huge cheer for S Club this week, > who have announced > their split. > At least they had the sense to know > when it had run it's > natural course.....hmmm. Level 42 did run it’s natural course (well, overshot it by a few years/recordings)…now we just have MK playing a little necrophilia with the corpse.
