Wrote this on Friday but forgot to send it - it's probably all been covered
by now but never mind.

>It happens all the time remember GENESIS? they replaced their lead singer
>not once but twice! oh dear arn't they naughty!
>Did you say when Phil Collins joined Genesis after Peter Gabriel left that
>it wasnt now Genesis? of course you didnt and that was the lead singer, the
>whole voice of the band.

Surely Phil Collins didn't join when Gabriel left, but stepped out from
behind the drums where he already was as a founder member?

>The facts are band members fall by the wayside and thats up to them, you
>also
>go on about the Beatles wouldnt be the Beatles if one of them left.Well
>from
>what ive seen didnt Ringo replace Pete Best?also they had another member i
>carnt remember his name, but he left the band to stop in Germany with his
>girlfriend.

But all that predates them even releasing a record, hardly a comparable
situation to that which applies now to Level 42. There's a fundamental
difference between personnel changes in nascent or developing bands in which
that new line-up goes on to create its own catalogue, and the recruitment of
musicians simply to play old material. I'm not slagging off the all-new
Level 42, they do what they do and do it fine; all I'm saying is it's hard
to see this as a change in line-ups in a creatively active band, which the
examples you give are.

>Notice I won't pick on anyone personally by disecting their e-mail word for
>word with >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> and trashing it.
>I show more respect than that.

Is it disrespectful to do this? I just see it as the e-mail equivalent of a
conversation. I must brush up on my e-mail etiquette.

im sorry if Ive uspet anyone with what I have said my typing does not make
me say what I really meant. Ive only really heard the level 42 thats arouns
now and the songs are the ones I love, theyv'e got a lot of songs from the
1970s and 1980s and a lot of you love them but i dont becuase they were
around before I was born. Theres a lot of us that have only just got into
level 42 inb the past few years and I thought that this internet grouping
was for all of us to talk about the music we really love and cos I havent
had them for all that long im not as listening as long as the rest of you
but I love they're music!!

Ive even gone out and bought all theyre back catalogue, the other people at
my school reckon im a loser cos I talk about Level42 all the time but iv'e
got a few others listening to there music and they like it. I try to listen
each lunchtime but it means im on my own listening and afterwards too.

if You dont get new people listening then what used are the sales?
I dont have as much experience as you so im sorry about that. PS Ive
listened to the early tapes and its sounding kindof cool in its old kind of
way.
I like AG 's anwsers to these letters he/she is funny to.
