Still, your point is well taken… On the Test for Echo tour, the first time 2112 was done in its entirety (or at least since it came out, forgive me, I aint a huge Rush fan, and it was always played at 9:12pm even), Geddy did say they would bag Tom Sawyer, and when I saw them at the Fleet Center (or was it still Boston Garden then?), this was the case. Not sure if they did it on the recent tour. > I've been reading the Web Digest today I see there > promoting YCB overthere Their manager is a active member of the Digest. j __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? | Hear hear, I totally agree with you Stephen about the Reading DVD. It's almost embarrassing watching it. I can't help thinking very few of the audience were "proper" fans, most of them just wanted Lessons in Love and were diappointed that it was a gig of semi-obscure album tracks rather than "hits". I thought the set list was unusual but refreshing. Who would have thought Sleepwalkers would be the only track from RITF?! Mark Summers :o) | ||

I am a long time lurker, but I don't remember reading an answer to the
following questions. I was also unable to find an answer via the
archives.
Why are there two versions of Forever Now?
And, while there are obviously different songs on the different
albums, what are the differences between the different versions of the
same songs? I have picked up some differences on "Billy's Gone,"
mainly at the beginning.
Does anyone think that the differences are important? (That one is
meant to be an open-ended discussion starter.)
Thanks in advance for any responses.

| >1 - reading dvd >From: Stephen.Whyte @ lpc.tv < >Stephen.Whyte @ lpc.tv> > >It's been said before and I'll say it again - the most notable thing about >the Reading DVD is the fact that the audience sits on their arses for >pretty much the entire gig! Wow, what a response to your favourite band >being on stage right in front of you. Even Mark makes a sarcastic remark >when people finally stand during the obligatory hits medley at the end. I >know that some digest members were at the gig - guys, weren't you itching >to stand? No, I wasn't. I hate being obliged to stand up, and I hate being told how I should enjoy a concert, be it peer pressure from fellow audience members to stand up or the band cajoling me to clap or sing along (to this day the name George Benson brings me out in a cold sweat - but that's another story). Just personal preferences, but you did ask. I suspect the main reason why hardly anybody stood up until the end is because that's when he started playing songs the majority of the audience weren't hearing for the first time. The Jazz Cafe gigs may have been full of 'hardcore', 'die-hard', 'true' (choose your own meaningless epithet) fans who were blissed out from the word go, but Reading clearly had a lot of passing trade brought in by the Level 42 name, who were expecting the tour which turned up a year later. For what it's worth, if Mark King was so bothered about people sitting down, why did he get Reading Town Hall to set out rows of seats on what is usually an empty floor space? And furthermore if he wanted a DVD full of wild enthusiasts, why did he pick Reading of all places to film it? >Audiences are like sheep, if one person stands then others will >follow. If one person stands then the person behind him will in order to be able to see. That's slightly different from the inference that if someone near me stands I'll think 'What a marvellous idea, why didn't I think of it myself?' Strange to say, I am aware of the function of my legs without the catalyst of a demonstration. >Rant over. Ditto. A word of caution to Americans ordering T-shirts from the UK...order at least one size larger than you normally would. Their sizes run considerably smaller than ours, including Mr. King's offerings.
