Obviously I can't speak for the majority, but seeing as you really seem
to want to know, I can report that I'm NOT going to the Glasgow gig. I
am going to Reading though. Bit pricey, I thought.

Nope - all quiet on that front.

Hi All

I'm gonna stick to Level 42 posts only I think now!

Before I do though just so everyone knows, me and Mike the Pom have kissed and made up.
Thanks for the comments Glenn and you'll hopefully glad to know this.

I just hope Mike doesn't decide to leave the digest over this.
He has apologised and I have apologised for my reply which was sent in my anger (told you I ain't perfect!!)
We both see things at totally different angles but so do most of us on here so hope we can still keep expressing personal opinions on stuff for discussion.
By the way spot on Jennifer re. Christians having to 'catch the heat'. I do like to stand up to it though if I can.

Still find the Digest turns up some days and not others as some have mentioned. Hope I haven't missed anything good in the last few days?

On the subject of Promos for Mike's new album, I usually get to see lots of New Release Promos in my Music Business but typical sods law is that I haven't seen that one. You can bet if I didn't have an interest in it I would have been offered 20 copies by now.

Wow the gigs are only just a month away, doesn't time fly when you are having fun.

cheers

Pete

  >belief can be assumed as solipsistic
<<

"Solipsistic": that awful feeling that the anti-chap stuff you just
blithely smeared on your face is in fact your wife's rarely-used florescent
pink Rouge D'Amour.

>>
  >Little-known factoid: Noah didn't have just the one arc; he had three.

  Practically an entire circle.
<<

That's a rather arcane attempt at humour.

>>
  >'cause I've played mediocre not-rehearsed-enough hit songs in bars,
  >and the place goes wild for them.

But this could be the sheer euphoria of people thinking 'At least it's
not a
  Friesen original'.
>>

Any more taunting about my music and I'll be forced to post the full lyrics
to my 1987 masterpiece "Praline Despair"!

>>
Lol! Wooah ho ho ho! Aha haha haha ha hee hee! The very idea that Friesen
  has a stylist!
<<

What? Do you think I picked this facial tattoo all by myself?

>>
  >Only if she'll let me practice my paradiddles.

You keep your urolagnia away from my fantasy.
<<

Which reminds me: JT says "hi."

>>
  >Yes, I'm with you on the bit about the arbitrary symbolism of language,
but
  >I don't believe that its lack of "inherent meaning" leads properly to
your
  >final statement. Do animals lacking language die other than alone and
  >unfulfilled? No; we're all in the same boat in that way.

Yes. Aren't you agreeing with me here? My point is that since we all
inhabit
solitary worlds of unbreachable idiolect (given that my mental image
triggered by the word 'tree', for example, will be slightly different
from
yours), there can never be true empathy. [Mike: we may as well all of us
be
  speaking a different language.]
<<

I was picking nits (please refrain from hurting yourselves while keeling
over from the shock of that statement). What you said originally was this:
"language has no inherent meaning...as a result we are all destined to a
life of worthless misunderstanding and will die alone and unfulfilled."
And my point was that the dying "alone and unfulfilled" has nothing to do
with language, because other animals have no (symbolic) language, and they,
too, expire in a solitary and unsatisfied manner.

>>
  Hey Friesen,
Er, you smell you do! And what's worse, you don't even know you smell!
<<

Listen up, you sorry excuse for a precambrian protozoan outcast; I smell
alright. And what I smell is a Goodwin-tinged pong so acrid it's drifted
right the way across the Atlantic! That's right, you maladjusted
heterotrophic baker's boy, it's your B.O. that's causing all these
hurricanes lately. Do us all a favour and take your soap-on-a-roap, burn
off your reeking, unwashed clothing, and take a two-week vacation in your
showerless tub, the location of which you have apparently forgotten.

So there!

  ...Alex...

I am still amazed that Mark's version of Level 42 is about to start a large tour - and yet nothing (of substance) or latest news has been posted on Level42.com for ages and that was only to plug something.

I think that this has some link to explain why this digest and the web digest have been full of speculation, rumour, gossip, and the like - Mark has not done enough to even have the courtesy to keep, even the dedicated hard core fans, up to date with him, his band, or anything - can he expect those who have been loyal and faithful fans to keep supporting him? And people wonder why the digest population is shrinking - you can't continue to keep asking us for our support year after year without speaking to us in some fashion during the rest of the year giving us some idea about what your plans are, or ideas that you want to explore or hell even what you had for dinner last night.

Mark, I have been lucky enough to come over every year since you went solo, going to 2-5 gigs each tour, I have always been a big fan of yours and will to the end of my days, but man SAY SOMETHING EXCEPT "I AM SELLING THIS NOW or SEE YOU AT THE BAR!" You have a website - give Morgan and Paul something to do! I have noticed a serious sharp decline in the "excitement" level within this hard-core group - the community is not what it used to be and I think the lack of news is partly to blame. Not that Mark really owes us anything at the end of the day, but it would be nice to know that he at least gives some thoughts to those who eagerly await any sort of news or music - quit keeping us hanging and 'level' with us man!

MIKE
