Erik, did this then affect the way you would listen to The Cars classic "drive"? (or "just what I needed" or "good times roll" or "bye bye love" or "moving in stereo" or "let's go" or "dangerous type" or "touch and go" or "shake it up" or "since you're gone" or "hello again"?) ALLAN ROBERTSON > JT - I take it u dont have ur front row ticket > for cover 42 - as u say? er, no. Thanks for asking. I'm sure I can find a wide variety of ways in which to be bored, if I needed to do that. No need to indulge his Ultimateness in his Mucking About in Mediocrity. Keep those questions coming, kids. j __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. http://search.yahoo.com

Hey
y'all,
Went to see Marcus Miller last
night, and I must say it was the best performance of his that I have seen in a
while. The band he has now has been together for a few years and they have
come together [no pun intended for those of you who know what I mean] very
nicely. He played a great mix of cuts: Maputo, Tutu [super long!!],
Panther, Power and some other greats. Best of all for me, he played a
super long version of Amazing Grace on bass clarinet. For those of you who
have never heard me tell this story, I played bass clarinet for 10 years, and
when I first posted to the Marcus Miller website a few years back I asked him a
question about that instrument instead of the bass. He sent me a two page
long response and we ended up having a nice back and forth - I think it was
refreshing to him for someone to ask him about something other than bass.
Some of you might not know this, but clarinet was Marcus' first instrument, and
he actually played that and bass clarinet before he played bass. He said
that he first got back into bass clarinet because Miles Davis told him he should
get back to his heart and soul and do it. I digress - point being that he
played the song beautifully, and also played part of it on soprano sax. I
am actually going to see Marcus again tonight - I have a hookup because I know
the owner of the Blue Note. If the setlist is different I'll let you guys
know.
Marcus and Incognito within two
weeks - I think I'm doing good here :-).

| Well Eric, I'm going to take this even further off the track, thanks to that bit about nearly being mowed down by the Cars front man (who's going to drive you home tonight?). This is only really of relevance to people who remember the militant\left wing politics that were around in the UK during the 80's. I remember coming close to running down Derek Hatton, the then ULTRA controversial leader of Liverpool City Council in 1986. He just stepped out into the road, seemingly in a daze, not looking to see if any traffic was coming at him. He sort of slowly ambled his way across the road, seemingly oblivious to the fact that my Ford Fiesta was homing in on him. If I hadn't applied the brakes, I would have made the news that evening. But this is nothing whatsoever to do with Level 42 so just ignore me and pass onto another post more relevant! thedrumdoctor | ||

And I was wondering if anyone here had a good contact for renting cars over there. ahh, the good old days when digesters were friends and used to help each other out! :-) Thing is, last time, we did we got screwed as they thought I was a tourist and tried all the extra charge crap on us. So we walked out and told them to F Off. So if you can get me a deal (and those that know me, know what I mean by a DEAL!!) please email me at adz42 @ socal.rr.com I thank U Adz
