If I remember correctly, Marina was in 'Stingray', a sister cartoon from
the Gerry Anderson stable - the show's theme music was also used by the
lads as an intro piece on occasion! | ||

| >I think that's a bit extreme, although I admit that there clearly is a kind of auto-approbation that exists with >>>some fans. I'm not saying we all should shower the current line-up with love and approval, but dumping on >them the way that's been done here in recent weeks is out of line. Wait til they give you something to chew on >for real. Why should we wait / be excited about the output of some people who have nothing to do with Level 42, and in fact were brought up in a different era with different influences? Surely the whole idea of us being here is because we like Level 42 and therefore it stands to reason that the music they produced appeals to us - so why should we just assume any music from different people will appeal to us just because they've been prescribed the name Level 42? You can go on about 'give these guys a chance' all you like, but I'm as interested in their output as I am of the output of any artist I know nothing about, NOT moreso because they're Mark's mates or are masquerading under the Level 42 name. For me, if they produced their own material, it would be STUPID to release it under the Level 42 banner - why would they want to produce decent material and they somehow shoe-horn it in to the canon of another group just because one of their number happened to be a founder member of that group? - that's madness (and probably why the only people who're interested in this happening are the hardcore (7 or 8) Mark o'philes who'd call it Level 42 if it was Mark and the pope. Don't get me wrong, but at the end of the day Grupo Mark King became Level 42 because Mark (sensibly) wanted to play bigger venues - not because he wanted to record with these guys. I guess it was his second choice, because he tried to get the original line-up back together. L()Z Visit our web site at www.scottwilson.com Privilege and Confidentiality Notice. | Don, > there clearly is a kind of auto-approbation that > exists with some fans. Very much so. In many varieties of the meaning(s). > but dumping on them [new line up] the way that's >been done here in recent weeks is out of line. Wait >til they give you something to chew on for real. Hardly "out of line", if anything, correctly in-line. I am fantastically lost on you thesis of thinking in which getting up on stage for 4-years (not to mention numerous consumer products documenting such acts) does not qualify and something "real" for a basis of critic. Nor the very real 'evidence' on NON-creative efforts. The continual cloaking with excuses of, "it was a greatest hits tour, they can't do anything new" is wa-fer thin, at best. No crowd is ever _not_ gonna appreciate an announcement along the lines of, "this next tune we're gonma do is a new one, but we want you to pretend it's the most fantastic thing you ever heard!". Madonna could do an entire set-list of "greatest hits", L42 could not, nor did not ("Seven Years", anyone?). This is pop music, we are not expecting MK to do an astounding concept album laden with depth and meaning. > The band spent most > all of 2002 touring. While I can't find the agenda for last year,(didn't Carl have all L42 gigs (ie. past) on the site?) I do believe "most" is an over-statement. And also a piss-poor excuse. Hmmm, band together all the time, bus rides, sound checks...this is how music is written alot of the time. (most) Anyone that sets a scheduled time to write music (or anything) is forcing the issue. A band jamming together, that's when shit happens. Friggin O-Town writes tunes on the bus.... >To write, record, and mix an > album that would satisfy the standards of this crowd > will likely take a year. Getting a record deal could take longer. >Give the lads the benefit > of some down time here and there Species have gone extint during this time span. >time for the new > label to get its marketing together Marketing? We _are_ talking about Level 42 here... >We're all impatient for > something new, but let's be realistic. Man, I'm very realistic, I'm not the one juggling excuses for what is pretty apparent! Eric, "Hell" is on Carl's site under..."rare tracks", or something like that. >Nathan said that he has no plans to play on > any future recordings > of Level 42. Now, granted, this doesn't really > confirm or deny anything, > but it raises the very real possibility that any > future recordings > (if there are any) might have totally different > session musicians. Just another very weird piece to this distorted puzzle called L42. Why someone would be a "part" of a band and not want to/need to/be asked to create for it is...well, weird (under-statement). There are many underlying themes this could fall under... 1st day od Spring, at least... j __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Now, granted, this doesn't really confirm > or deny anything, but it raises the very real possibility that any future recordings > (if there are any) might have totally different session musicians. Yeah, but the succinct way he put his answer "No plans at the moment", without any elaboration at all, makes it sound like a pat answer a la MK's denials that he's working on anything new. I keep thinking about what MK said in an interview, about how he doesn't like to talk about what he's "going" to do. If it doesn't come to fruition, you end up looking like a bullshitter, so better to just keep quiet until it's done. Let's hope that's the case. Z. | ||

Mostly correct, but
And before anybody else says it, I know it’s sad that I know these details.
