Non-Level message here - Duran Duran are back! We are seeing them in a week,
and I can't wait! As well as an 80's tour with Flock of Seagulls, Missing
Persons and The Tubes.

That's some 80's news for you.

From: Jackson, Lolita <Lolita.Jackson @ morganstanley.com>

Is it me, or are almost none of the acts below even remotely related to
jazz?
<<

I agree. Except, of course, for Kenny G, who is the all-time reining
monarch or jazz originality, forging new paths into melodic, harmonic, and
improvisational complexity. Move over Miles and Brubeck.

Since we are now in the summer, I believe it would be necessary to
estivate.

My sincere apologies to the true fans for a) not referring to Level 42, b)
quoting Eric and c) using a word of more than six letters in length.
<<

And d) snubbing all digesters who live in the southern hemisphere.

I think that that oversight unquestionably calls for an anti-AG flame war.
Let's get him turfed from the digest! Who's with me?

Requisite Level 42 mention: My, but those lads came up with some killer
grooves in their day.

Yes indeed, how the hell does the likes of Kenny G manage to keep his "Jazz"
facade up? This man is clearly not fit to lick the sweat of a dead Charlie
Parkers balls.

yeah, essentially the same thing with the Montreux
“jazz” festival. Which leaves one to speculate that
“contemporary jazz” will, if it hasn’t already, follow
“contemporary art” as an oxymoron, or at _least_ as
Frank Zappa said, “Jazz isn’t dead, it just smells
funny”.

Nice thought, but I imagine (or more so hope, as I
couldn’t picture doing this is my true free time) a
great bunch of folk diddle about with the Net at work,
and I kinda sense there aren’t too many school
teachers here…

> My sincere apologies to the true fans for a) not
> referring to Level 42

well, “torpor” is about one step removed from
“estivate” and I’d say that’s a pretty damn fine
definition for “level42”.
Hence, no news, no matter what the calendar states.

Don’t buy it (unless you’re one of those weird
collector people); it’s the same damn thing as Reading
2001. Apparently the “greatest hits” title will
generate more sales since this one is in distribution.

Nice of MK to disclaim it (that it’s the same thing)
in small print on the back, or give a ‘shout out’ on
his oh-so ever updated website so that we don’t feel
fleeced.
Or was that the point?
