There are no Level 42 dvd's available. The best you can do is
the various 'Princes Trust' shows, and an 80's video compilation
that contains the vid for 'Something About You'.

'Live at Wembley' has been rumoured to be released this year.

I've just listened to a few samples on janhammer.com and it's clear the influence he had on Mike Lindup's playing, especially on the first two L42 albums.  Is anybody on the digest a fan and what albums would you recommend (not anything like Miami Vice though thanks!)

Adam.

Replying to Iain's original message.. Will said

In the States, Audiophile Imports is the best source I have found.
www.audiophileimports.com <http://www.audiophileimports.com/>. They have
most of the recently issued Mark King/Cover 42 stuff on DVD. What I can't
find is Guaranteed Live on DVD though - maybe it doesn't exist.

Will

At this moment in time you cannot get Guaranteed Live on DVD, there was talk
of the Live from Wembley 87 video being released on DVD but as it stands
nothing has been or is due to be released .......... which is a shame !!

I can see why Mark Summers is interested in clothes shops. His sister
has just opened a new one in our local mall.

Hallo everyone,

When I spoke with Mark after the new line-up had performed in Hanover on the 3 December about the future of Level 42 he said that they would be gigging again next year and that he was 'working on new material.'

As much as I am interested in anything new I personally believe that all the material produced since World Machine and Running in the Family isn't as good as their earlier music.

Seeing them live performing all the old hits again was fantastic and took me back to an age when I had more hair and less weight!

To me they remain the best and always will do.

Lessons in how to wow an audience

November 11, 2002 09:00

Level 42 at the Regent last night.

Evening Star

MORE than 20 years after they first hit the charts and eight years after their "farewell" tour, Level 42 were back in town and showing a full house just what we'd missed!

Mark King and the lads seemed just as fresh and enthusiastic as ever as they sent the audience wild with a great selection of old favourites and less familiar tracks.

This was an energy-packed performance, one which showed how a great band can connect with an appreciative crowd.

By the end of Children Say, about half an hour into the set, the audience was all on its feet cheering everything the band did.

It's an old cliché, but Level 42 really does have a unique sound – with jazz/funk fused with old fashioned pop and rock to produce a truly memorable evening.

All the old favourites were on display, from early hits like The Sun Goes Down to later offerings including the slower It's Over.

It's difficult to pick highlights from a great 100-minute set like we were treated to last night – but the segment with Running in the Family and Lessons in Love will long stick in the mind.

King himself produced his usual faultless and extravagant performance fronting the band – and clearly enjoyed every minute of the show.

He almost had to be dragged off the stage at the end after shaking hands with most in the front of the audience.

"I've got some great memories of this place," he said as the band prepared its encore.

The fans at last night's wonderful show were also left with some great memories and a promise from their hero.

"Same time next year!" he called as he left the stage. Few there last night will be able to resist that invitation!

Paul Geater.

A random thought...

While I was on hold at work with an internal client, I was expecting the normal boring "hold music".
To my surprise and actual delight, they played "Love In A Peaceful World", muzak version.  It actually
sounded ok and make the wait worthwhile!

Has anyone else heard muzak version of other Level 42 songs?  Just curious.

Take care... glad to have the Digest back!  :)

Hello all,
Just curious if anyone knows if the old Level digest is up and running yet.  I tried to go there and it no longer exists.  I thought that even if you went to the old address that it would automatically transfer you to the new set-up?  Can anyone help?
                                                Thanks

Sorry - my last message was meant to say for all people in the UK who want a
copy of the VCD, as that's where I live and I believe there are other
volunteers for countries outside of the UK.
