| To everyone on the digest, Hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and New Year, hopefully it will be made better by the lovely Mark announcing another tour. And can I just say Gary Husband is a fantastic drummer, and truly deserves his place in Level 42 (as do Nathan, Lyndon and Sean). Best wishes to you all Cheryl XXX | ||

| Nice to see the high gear of debate at present on the new digest. I wonder if it's all the venom built up over the time it was missing, which may subside once we all get over our initial ecxtasy. I forgot to add yesterday that I met Gary at Subterranea for Mikes Gig and he was a diamond geyser. (think there is a pic in the fan club mag) I must appologise for the big paragraph of "were not responcible etc" rubbish that follows my postings. I don't think my last address did this, or did we have a filter before? Nobody else seems to have this trouble. | >. But for all we DO know, the ink may already be >long dry on the new deal, although it may not serve >Mark's purposes to announce it, as of yet. well, there is always a chance, however small. But to go with this theory I would need to see some "purpose" to NOT disclosing this. There would be none. When, countless times, fans appraoch him, obviously in hopes of new material, what is the point to saying 'no, no new material, now shut up and listen to Something About You for the 10'000th time.'. I see little logic or reasoning to the potential-ness to loosing/letting down fans. Am I gonna like the album all the more if it is a 'surprise release'? No, I will like it contents pending. ok, j __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com | ||

| >>What makes you think he hasn't had time to "get togther with Boon"? How do you know there aren't already several >>tracks in the can, hmm? ;o) Well, I seem to remember Don that , in reply to " over zealous fans " in the first part of this year, you were at pains to point out that MK would not have time to write/record new material due to time off and rehearsals for the upcoming 2002 tour. Your general message seemed to be " give the guy a break, he's busy enough and it will happen eventually but we must all be patient as it will be worth waiting for ". Now you seem to be so sure that a new album will suddenly materialize in 2003, Don , I challenge you to tell us what you know that the rest of us don't, cos I just can't see it happening. I'd love to be proved wrong however...... Dean | ||

| >Let's face it. Take a look at Simple Minds - how many line up changes have >they had? >And still they sound like Simple Minds - and the fans have reciprocated by >keeping their alliegence to the band - for that is what TRUE fans WOULD do! Funny you mention this. Had a chat with Jim Kerr a week ago ( my girlfriend is touring S.M on the NOTP now) and we discussed bandchanges. His answer was simple.... He and Charlie Burchil are the simple minds, the rest is hired... Had a chat last night with The Crox (Ex-Volumia! (well known for Dutchies)) and they all are huge L42 fans. Robin vd Zalm, the drummer even told me Phil Gould was his big example, he loves PP and E.T. ain't that nice!!! as support act they had our big firned Mo'Jones, who btw is a very nice person and with complete band very great to listen too. He did send me his album, and when I listened to it, it realy sounded great, so I guess we have to give him another chance... Norman | ||

| Hey, I agree with Terry on this one. Sure, the original line-up created most of the music we know today, but that's history. If we all had to choose between what we have now and nothing (which was the case only a few years back, remember), you'd have to say that we're getting a fair deal. Add to that the new music that was promised, and it's a damn good deal. Likewise, whereas both drummers are talented guys without a doubt, Phil simply isn't touring. So | ||

(That's an insult, if you >didn't know) An unashamedly ungrammatical one, too. The Web Digest's Humph42 would be proud of you. >They may also happen to have owned the odd mansion or two, or the odd cafe >-bar, and have people tapping on computers late into the night because they >just happen to be talented. Or is that just misdirected jealousy fired by >the desire to have a more interesting life, similar to the one that they >seem intent on criticizing? Or is it case of over-inflated ego again, >amalgamated with flat-line charisma? I really don't know if this frothy-mouthed rant is directed at me (as an American comedian once memorably said of a member of Westlife on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, I've seen David Lynch films which made more sense), but having just recently inflated my ego I'll assume it is. In which case - easy there tiger! You've just got a dose of New Boy Syndrome. Over the coming weeks and months your ire will recede and, like countless others before you, you will come to love me. I am the Digest's very own Reverend Jim Jones. Kurtis Kegley now carries a picture of me in his wallet. >New album >From: DonZipf @ aol.com < <mailto:DonZipf @ aol.com> DonZipf @ aol.com> > >What makes you think he hasn't had time to "get togther with Boon"? How do >you know there aren't already several tracks in the can, hmm? ... I stand >firm on the new album. I never say these things without good sources. For legal reasons, I should specify at this point that my own bet that there would be no new Level 42 material next year was referring to material recorded as a Special 23rd Anniversary Collection by the original line-up. With guest vocals by John Lennon. >Oh yeah, like you would actually show up to pay or collect, you cowardly >hermit! The once time I almost met you at a gig, you dodged me like a >politician sidestepping a direct question! Listen, people get startled by the third eye. But anyone who seriously wants an audience with me has only to make the effort - I am in seat MM132 South Stand Upper for every home game. Exeter tomorrow. The glamour. Win, although it was Grupo Mark King at the time, not billed as "Level 42", they did use some disk-based audio playback for recent tours. The one that comes to mind is the rhythm guitar on "Keep Climbing". It was played by Jakko, when he was with the band, but by the Akai sampler the next time around. I don't remember other specific examples, but I'm sure there were some, probably including some backing vocals. Don Z | ||

After a (too) long periode of silence I have returned. On www.ronalds.tk you will find a totally new lay out. Still simple but better than it was. You also will find a new demo which was NEVER online before. I'll re-run an old demo after each new one but these will all be re-encoded with a higher bitrate. Which demo is online? Well you know where to go to find that out. I will post a short message after each update. If you have any additional information please mail that to me. Ronald |
