From: "ztavendl" Date: Tue, 27 Mar 2001 15:05:27 +0100 Hi digesters, after looking at the ever decreasing state of Napster over the last week or so, I managed to find a live version of a song called "Night Birds" by Shakatak. Now I know there are a few people on here that dont think of them much, but I must say its a great tune, and George Anderson's bass playing is spot on (not technically as good as MK obviously, but not bad I must say) he plays slap, and he keeps everything going, its great to listen to. The version is 7:14 long and im sure there are a few digest fans out there that would like to listen to it. For the bassists: Did George Anderson use a Jaydee?, I read somewhere that he had a GA24 ordered for him. Tavs the tiny bass player STANDARD DISCLAIMER: This message is confidential. It was on the Brian Conley Show on either UK Gold or Granada Plus. The Brian Conley Show is awful, but seeing Level 42 halfway through was great. They were playing 'Love in a Peaceful World' live-ish, well Mark and mike were singing live. Jakko is playing the guitar and there was a coloured chap on the drums. I don't know when it was filmed, but it could well have been one of their last performances ? And don't ask I didn't record it, sorry. To the person that was have problems with the IOW CD, I had some background noise problems on CD2, I emailed back and got a signed seconded copy by return (what fantastic service). Finally, a plug: I've just opened up my new website called Craig and Laura Cyberhome (http://craig.uk-homepage.com). It's not a full on Level 42 site, it's mainly holiday photos but it does have some photos of Mark and I, and very soon I'll be uploading some unique L42 items. Please visit if you can be bothered :-) Cheers Craig Please visit my site at http://craig.uk-homepage.com ------------------------------ Subject: Mike Lindup in South Africa: T Minus 2 days From: "Charl Mocke" Date: Tue, 27 Mar 2001 20:38:09 +0200 Hi again friends, Well, Mike Lindup and Da Lata are almost on their way here to South Africa, performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival here in Cape Town. Bought my ticket today, a staggering R235 (amounts to about 22 Pounds or 31 US$), and I will be meeting up with Mike again and taking pictures and filming most of their show, as far as my 1992 JVC Videocamera will allow it :-) This is, as far as my knowledge goes, the first time a Level 42 band member will be visiting South Africa. The show starts at about 22:00 local time and will last for about 2 hours, in the Good Hope Centre. Anyone else who wants me to give messages / regards to Mike, let me know asap and I will convey them to him. Will put up pictures on the internet soon afterwards! :-) TCOY, Charl O O O O O O ------------------------------ Subject: Mike Lindup in South Africa: T Minus 2 days From: "Charl Mocke" Date: Tue, 27 Mar 2001 21:06:35 +0200 Hi again friends, Well, Mike Lindup and Da Lata are almost on their way here to South Africa, performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival here in Cape Town. I am absolutely delighted with the entire package! I want to give a very warm thanks to Mark, the band and all who were a part of putting it together. It's Mark's continued loyalty to his fans that maintains my sincerest respect. I have a relatively new PC so I fortunately had none of the issues some of you had with the video. I really enjoyed seeing the band play early faves like Dream Crazy, True Believers, Kansas City Milkman, etc...very nice indeed. Gary is such a musical drummer and because he is also a pianist, it is completely understandable. All of the musicians were fantastic really. Thanks for allowing me to share my excitement, James ___________________________ jamesrsutton @ home.com http://www.jamesrsutton.com paulacolefan @ hotmail.com http://www.gravitywilling.com ___________________________
