From: "Colin Gupta" Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2001 05:25:27 -0600 Well I wanted to respond to Alex, but felt I needed some deeper insight. You see, I am relatively new to the digest and just finished perusing several months of archives and have the following comments or observations based on my revelations: 1. I had no idea with whom I was dealing (AG and AF). 2. Thank you both for going so easy on me, so far (even with the Soft Cell thing - a very polite Canadian and CFNYer indeed (note dash (and bracket) usage)) 3. Are you guys having a cyberaffair? 4. My God Alex! Are my OHIP premiums actually supporting your digest habit? 5. Someone stated Mark should not forget who is responsible for his success. Yes, would that not be Mark. If you don't like Mark there's always Marky Mark. 6. Phil is entitled to his opinion. I happen to prefer analogue in general and agree that the vinyl issues sound better for the reasons he apparently states. I still bought the remasters because I wanted them not because someone told me to or not to. Lets not forget the man probably has a "good ear for music" and knows what his instrument is supposed to sound like (not that one boys). 7. Regarding the recourse suggested by the poor soul who got the virus; funny, that is exactly why the feminist crossed the road. 8. Did Steely Dan get their name from...well, uh, a kind of chrome plated looking thingamajig that, you know...takes batteries? Alex lied I can see it in his thighs. Ok. Now I can properly respond to Alex's very insightful query. I was not aware of this flaw. I did indeed here it on the CD and sorry Alex, the vinyl too. I had to turn it up a bit and listen intently many times but right in the middle of the second "come on" there it was exactly as stated. So, it is not that a flaw was created in the remaster, it is that one was not corrected. Good point nonetheless. My vinyl is London import POLH 25 827 487-1 and does not have Dream Crazy. So how was this flaw uncovered? I can't believe you were listening one day and just heard it. I need to hear your explanation. You'll never know how much I need it. I didn't want to offend anyone (it's a Canadian tradition).
