I bought it in London three years ago and I love it. Why is it that the best R&B and soul compilations always come from the UK? I am lucky enough to own all three volumes of this great compilation! The main reason that these compilations are only available in the UK is that in the early 80's this sort of Soul music was massive in the UK and especially London and the South East particularly Essex! (Goldmine, Canvey Island and Lacy Lady in Ilford) It was a massive Underground thing, that none of the big radio stations picked up on! It spawned the massive Caister Soul Weekends, the all dayers and the boat trips, which are still going strong today! For the definitive history check this web site http://www.weekenders.co.uk/caister_sp_2001/famous.html It is widely thought that without the Soul Weekenders there would have been the massive dance scene in Ibiza today I believe Level 42 even made an appearance at one! My daughter's name is Elisabeth with an 's', from the Nik Kershaw track "Elisabeth's Eyes". I know he wrote it about his own daughter, but what the hell... I'm sure he feels the same about her as I do about my own little girl. ------------------------------ Subject: Mr Wilson I presume... From: Daniel James Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 07:13:40 -0800 > Danny Wilson- Meet Danny Wilson Woah, Bill... I had no idea your brother had an album out. Congrats to you and Jen. Hope you're staying sunny! ------------------------------ Subject: Danly Steele From: alex.friesen @ sickkids.ca Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 11:27:24 -0500 Personally, I found Steely Dan to be a huge disappointment. I assumed that they were a happening Country band, but not only is there no steely guitar, there's also nobody named "Dan" in the band! And what's with these tunes that have more than four chords in them? What kind of wankers are these guys? ...Alex... At 2:44 in "I Sleep on My Heart" on the left channel there's still that little flaw. A sort of tick sound which always pissed me off when I listened to the old CD version. It's not there on the LP, so where did it come from? Shouldn't remastering clean up wee flaws like this one? Not that I'm AR or anything. ...Alex...
