Level 42 - "World Machine". The boys break America! 2. Mike Lindup - "Changes". One of my most prized possessions. 3. Nik Kershaw - "The Works". "Although critically acclaimed, failed altogether to chart". 4. Scritti Politti - "Cupid & Psyche '85". Funky and rich production. 5. Mr. Mister - "Pull". Their final album, was never released officially. 6. Depeche Mode - "Violator". "Let me show you the World In My Eyes". This would be one of many Depeche Mode albums in my wife's Top Ten favorites! :-) 7. Kraftwerk - "Computer World". "I'm the operator with my Pocket Calculator..." 8. "OST: Grand Canyon". Deep. 9. Earth, Wind & Fire: "All 'N All". EWF at their very best. 10. Tangerine Dream - The Private Music Of Tangerine Dream". Great to listen to on long trips. Honorable mentions: Anything by Incognito, Tears For Fears "Songs From The Big Chair", Average White and "Pickin' Up The Pieces", Tower Of Power "What Is Hip?", The Brothers Johnson "Classics". The Heaven 17 are a fictitious band talked about in the music shop scene. >> Malcom McDowall's (right spelling?) character started chatting up a girl standing next to him in a record store while flipping through records in "Clockwork" and said, "...you know, the Heaven 17?", referring to a new record release. BTW, Heaven 17 has regrouped to record new material in 2000 with a release date sometime in late 2001. From: Rob van Aperen Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 09:04:19 +0100 Hi everyone, With no experience whatsoever and the cheapest equipment (a $200 bass guitar, a $200 keyboard and a $400 4-track recorder) I played and recorded a section of Sandstorm and converted it into MPG format. The sound quality is poor, much noise and the bass is waaaay to loud (due to the cheapest loudspeakers while mixing, I'll never make that mistake again). Nevertheless I enjoyed it very much and I am working on an improved version, which is easy, for some mistakes I made are very obvious. For the ones interested: you can download the sandstorm.mpg from my webserver by going to http://145.48.232.16, and at the bottom of the index page, you'll see the hyperlink 'sandstorm' (1,3 Mb). Turn down the bass!!! Best regards Rob PS. I play the bass for only 4 months, so any comment is welcome! ------------------------------ Subject: Top stuff From: Richard.West @ invensys.com Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 08:40:16 +0000 For what it's worth... the 10 albums I couldn't do without are (in no particular order): Once Around The World - It Bites Level 42 - Level 42 Tales - Marcus Miller Road Noise - Judie Tzuke Penthouse & Pavement - Heaven 17 Provision - Scritti Politti Exit...
