What criteria did you judge Love Games, Mr Pink, Sandstorm, even All Over You by to consider them disingenuous? > They were highclass genuine pure r&b soul funk. To sum it- up, the > AWB were at a completely higher plane, and CAN sing authentic > soul. Level 42 created fresh sounds in the early 1980's. Their blend of jazz fusion with funk and pop was unique and welcome to the music scene, and soul artists in particular. Evidence of this is in the leaders of Earth Wind and Fire travelling to England to produce the Standing In The Light. One area where AWB have an edge is they are actively touring. I also agree that AWB's vocals are more soulful, however this does not mean Level's vocals were in any way not authentic. If you are interested in seeing AWB check their tour dates at www.averagewhiteband.com. They recently posted new dates in England and the USA.
