Now, I'll let the digesters take first crack at bidding for this original Visa statement containing the "Mark King" purchase. Should the bidding not reach a minimum of $50.00, I plan on going to ebay. Let the bidding begin! Alphonso Johnson himself was quoted as saying that the bassline may well have been written by Jaco himself (he meant it as a compliment.) However, it's only one song. Mark' style took years to hone, and I can't say it's remained static. Admittedly, Mark's "speed slap-n-pop" is quite unique; perhaps some heavy rock guitar influence sneaked in somewhere. <<Stunning music, real funky, great harmony of sax, keys and
guitars, driven on by some well-groovy bass licks>>

Another convert! And Tony, I totally went through the same emotions when
first confronted with Y-Chromo postings. Glad I'm not the only one whose
scepticism subsided...

Keep up the good work Phil & Co.

Oh, the joys of unintelligible lyrics! I believe it was decided that Mike is singing, "I sought the we, I sought the me" or some such thing as that. I'm sure a lot of people on the other side of the Atlantic have long since heard of him but I think he's just great. I can't stop listening to his most recent release that came out late last year. His first album was released in 1996. He's got a sound that falls somewhere between Marvin Gaye, Jay Kay, Terence Trent D`Arby and Bobby Womack. He's had a lot of work in the rock arena and really strong soul influences, if you haven't checked him out yet go to www.lewistaylormusic.com. **addendum** Since originally mistakenly sent this message from the wrong address and didn't get it posted in the digest the next day, I have managed to *BUY* both Lewis Taylor's major cds along with the promo cd for Lewis II. This cat is AMAZING, I truly wholeheartedly recommend him to all digesters. Ok enough non Level stuff. ciao
