Hi,
There is a Mark King interview (promting the reissues and Mark's recent
cds) to be found the February 2001 issue of German magazine "Gitarre und
Bass". Mark says that the first gig L42 ever did was in Aachen, Germany.
He also says he is not interested in producing more commercial albums
for a record company.

Congrats Pete, you made me laugh out loud in the office. I haven't giggled
so much in ages. Brilliant stuff.

In the interview, Mark says that he is tired of having marketing
managers' telling him he should be more commercial - not that he is
uninterested in producing commercial albums anymore. Sorry about the
confusion.

There are certain things that should be left in the 80's and
one of them is Shakatak for sure.
I mean, who in their right mind would travel out to see
Shakatak, how many classic jazz-funk tracks have they to
their credit? When our brave lads took to the stage, they
were cutting edge playing with the Police and the
Stranglers, (and getting pelted with firecrackers in the
proccess), an antidote to the dying punk scene no less.
Shakatak are hardly worthy of playing against L42 and are no
longer marketable. If you were to pull in some proper
heavyweights like JTQ, Courduroy, Incognito, Omar, Al Green,
Lewis Taylor, K-Creative, Carleen Anderson, Johnny Hates
Jazz (joke) then you'd have a right meaty line up on your
hands.
But ..... Shakatak, aaaagggghhhh, you are so wrong man!
.... and as for those those weedy female vocals!!!!
I need to have a lie down now, maybe blow the dust off the
'Drivin Hard' album and remind myself how middle of the road
Shakatak were even then, then maybe play SITL just to piss
on Shakatak and then twiddle the knob of my pink prophet.
Shakatak?! I arsk yah

Any more info on the new Starchild mix? I'm getting
nowhere with the label.
I will order the new MK CD's today and have some
thoughts on DVD vs CDRom. The CDrom format works
worldwide, while the DVD format would need to be
converted into PAL & NTSC format, which would cost
quite a bit. Why they STILL have two formats now for
DVD is beyond me and actually pisses me off. But, at
least I don't have to feel left out without an
opportunity to see the footage....

Hi all,
1) Maybe the evil spammer is Philip Gould - just a thought
2) Maybe "The best is yet to come" refers to a reunion in the offing? - we
can but hope
3) Caister could be good - I think L42 did a couple of soul weekenders there
many moons ago
4) It doesn't really matter when or where the gig would take place, we would
all try to get there
(although IOW would be handy for me - I'm on the south coast)
5) 'Guaranteed' IMHO is crap and always will be - no matter how many times I
play it, I don't like it !!!!
6) I considered it a real honour to be both sweated and spat on by the
Kingster in 1987 (Brighton Centre).
The poor chap couldn't help it and it was that night that I actually
realised he was a real human being - not a God.
Cheers,
Lozzie xxxxx

I'm from Philadelphia and will be in England next week for work. I'll be in
London for 4 days and Coventry for 2. While I'm there, I would love to pick
up any Level 42 stuff that you can't get in the states. If anybody has any
ideas of where to go - let me know. In particular, I would like to get a
copy of "Changes". Thanks.

You forget to mention:
"Well, I was disappointed that the track ___________________________ wasn't
on their, but Dream Crazy, TCOY, and Lying Still are so cool!"
Mikey
PS: I think that we should concentrate on getting Mike and Mark back
together for another album, maybe tour rather the whole of the ol L42, I
think that this is more likely in the next 5 years. Remember Phil Gould's
attitude about the L42 reissues, it seem that those bad vibes are still
there. Also, why is the digest full of adverts lately, is this a JOE P
campaign or what? Also, the guy who made reference to Mike Lindup
twiddling the knobs of the Prophet, too funny for a Monday morning read,
still snorting after that.

I think somebody should keep a count on how many digesters mention the
following about the IOW 2000 CD's:
1. I only sent my e-mail/letter in the post on whatever day and
received the CD's on whatever day. Wow they came so quickly.
2. The packaging/artwork is great.
3. The CD's are the dogs b***ocks (or similar words to that affect).
4. The inlay on the audio CD reads "...and the best is yet to come" - This
must be a reference to Trash 2
being on it's way.
5. I don't know why Mark didn't release the CD on DVD or video - it looks
better than OK to me.
6. How do I convert the CD-ROM to a VCD (or something else) so that I can
watch it on my TV?
7. Can I play the CD-ROM on my DVD?
There appears to be a general trend in the e-mails so far and it's so funny
to see the same things being mentioned!!! :-)
Carl, you'll have to put this up on forevernow.com as a substitute to not
having the 'who has what numbered CD!'
Glyn.
