From: "Brian Flint" Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 15:48:33 Firstly, I'd like to apologize to AG for the inherent misuse of the term "your" instead of the widley accepted "Yor" Secondly, I believe everyone knows where the digest stands on self crediting. Please be aware that most of us are so ignorant that your "breath" spent on telling us your credentials would be wasted. And that we furthermore will take every bit of info one might impart to us as cannon-fodder. Which brings me to a good point relating to the British Intellect. Those who have it should limit themselves to journalist. First of all you are great at writing, second of all, we can just read what you have to say and then we don't have to listen to you. Let's see, whom have I forgotten. Interesting bit from the history of the band, maybe that'll just end the debate and we can go own to discussing what machine heads most of us prefer on our basses. From: Paul Fucito Date: Mon, 6 Aug 2001 08:58:07 -0700 (PDT) Mell, I got my copy of the 2nd set of new Starchild remixes, and out of the three, the 2nd version on side one is amazing. It sounds like a natural extended version from 1981, not the current "House" mixes we've been hearing. For that reason alone, I have to recommend it as the best Starchild mix yet..... The song has been stripped down, reworked and extended. The only "modern" addition is the drumtrack (which takes some time to even enter the song). First you hear Mike's solo vocals (sans music) followed by his vintage synth intro. The song builds by adding Mark's bass and gradually adding the remaining elements of the song complete with a new, but not intrusive, drum track. This sounds like the old Francois Kevorkian, Julian Mendalsen style "extended mixes" we used to love back in the day. Does not destroy or rework the song at all. All of the original elements are kept intact, singled out at times, then regrouped..... VERDICT: For fans who don't like the House & Techno style remixes (aka Tin Tin Out's "Living It Up") this is the 12" for you. Track 2, side 1 is as vintage as you can get. This IS Starchild. The best remix of Starchild yet..... In my opinion.. Paul Fucito __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! I'm going to look for an online vendor in Canada or maybe even here (but I doubt it). I must unfortunately agree with your slogan. Cadbury absolutely beats Hersheys any day. Now, if I could only get Cadbury chocolate milk........ Don Ramakers
