As a big fan of Mark's bass playing, I also find him to be a fantastic drummer. A drummer myself, I am actually astounded sometimes at his drumming prowess. I really enjoy the drums on Trash. I was curious as to whether anyone out there has seen Mark play drums live and what kind of drums he plays on. Does he play traditional or matched grip? I hope everyone has had a great New Years and I'm excited about what 2001 has in store for us. Thanks, James ________________________ jamesrsutton @ home.com http://www.flucks.net paulacolefan @ hotmail.com ICQ 42991385 "Flucks" ________________________ ------------------------------ Subject: BEST LEVEL 42 SONG EVER ! If all you want is Level 42 related material....browse the dozen or so fricken websites that has every thing you would want to know about Level 42 on it, we don't have any "inside track" you aren't going to get NEW insight here. We are friends that have a band in common and we like to tlak about other things, CHRIST!!! WHY DO I HAVE TO KEEP POINTING THIS OUT!!!! Please put this entry ona 3 week cycle so that it pops up about every time someone bitches about it being level 42 related. WOuldn't that be exciting!!!!! I'm reminded of WIll Shatner on SNL at the Trekkie convention....."Get a life!!!!" What if all of you got your wish.....We'd be like "Hey what're you doing?" I can't tell you....I'm not listening to level 42 and that the only thing I can tell you I'm doing. "What's new??" Lot's, but since LEvel 42 has broken up, there's nothing new from them so I can't say. "What're you doing this weekend?" Don't ask, but it involves church and the Back Street Boys. Final Point? Why couldn't AL Gore invent common sense???? It's fantastic! Now, I'm not the best bass player in the world, but you'd think after TRYING to play that tune's bass line for about a month now, I'd have it down. NOPE! There are so many parts in the bass line where 2 consecutive notes (Two notes that need to be played rather quickly) are 4 frets part (2 frets inbetween them)! I'm not sure if my fingers work that fast! I try going to the next string up and using that, but it's even tougher for some reason. If any bassists out there want to give me tips on To Be With You Again, I'd appreciate it. Perhaps there is some baby-tab out there somewhere. Thanks a million. Take care all, and Happy New Years! -Tim Wojton ------------------------------ Subject: Overtime? From: mike w Date: Tue, 2 Jan 2001 11:04:17 -0800 (PST) I remember hearing a song in a grocery store the other day, that I swear sounded like Level 42. Something about "working all this overtime...what's been done I can't repair." I've been running a cross-reference search using those lyrics, but have not been able to come up with an album. Has Level 42 done any song with those lyrics? TIA, mike w __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Absolutely! James Brown is THE GODFATHER! One of the main reasons George Clinton brought Bootsy, his brother Catfish, Fred Wesley, and Maceo Parker aboard the Mothership was because of their affiliation with James Brown. At the time, Clinton knew how to funk, but like Yoda teaching Luke Skywalker, Bootsy and co. had to teach George and the Funk Mob all about "The One", which in funk terms is exactly like "The Force". It is the first beat of the bar, the anchor, and essentially the foundation of the Funk universe. The One was practically invented by James Brown. > After that, Mark did a bassriff from Hot water and I can tell you THAT WAS > THE MOST FUNKIEST bassline id ever heard. Funkiest bassline? My vote is for "Funkentelechy". Funkiest Level 42 bassline IMHO is "Dream Crazy". ------------------------------ Subject: intervieuw From: "Willem en Kirsti" Date: Tue, 2 Jan 2001 23:35:27 +0100 As i had a massive response to my posting about the interview from Mark, i took the time to upload it to my very old site ! I'm sorry about your mum. But if you are to use that example as a proof for the non-existence of a deity, then maybe I could use my example about how a lowly street dweller ended up as a successful and respected member of parliament and died a happy man as proof that a deity doesn't exist. We are not going to solve the two hundred year old problem of whether or not a deity exists here on the digest, so I don;t think the thread should continue. Though, whoever said there was as much evidence that santa exists as Jesus Christ should think twice before alienating every Christian and Muslim on the digest with a throw away comment. If you reject the evidence that a man called Jesus Christ existed 2000 years ago you reject just about every incident in history as we know it from around and before 1868. Very few historians nowadays argue that Christ did not exist, the real argument is who he was. Ok here we go, 'When A Knight Won His Spurs' in 'Over There' 'Some people say that the knights are all gone Some people say that the dragons are dead but the dragon lives on as the spectre of war and the killing and slaying goes on as before (so let faith be my shield etc)' And please, if you're p*ssed off with digest content, then start a decent thread for a change. So here is my thread. How cool would it be if Level 42 reformed with Mike on drums, Phil on keys, Mark on guitar and Boon on bass!!
