The plot has a teen secretly taping an opera diva who never allows herself to be recorded, then he has killers after him for the tape, which gets mixed up with another. great flick that i recently picked up on DVD to replace my 20 year old VHS copy. Hopefully the programmes's panel wont't slag her off too much!!!! So, Mr King, if you are reading this, take a look and sign her up for your Jazz Cafe gigs, ha ha ha ha!!!!! Cheers Dave P.S. Drum stop, very good!!!!!!!! ------------------------------ Subject: GB vs. Alembic From: Don Z Date: Sun, 8 Jul 2001 10:49:51 -0700 (PDT) > The sound of Mark's bass here is also interesting. > It comes across muted, apparently void of some high > mid-range frequencies. Greg, the reason the LATJC disc sounds so different, is that it's the only recording on which Mark plays the GB basses. They really do sound different: with a fat, compressed bottom and a glassy top. The Alembics have a beautiful singing voice, but they don't have the muscle that the GB's have. Just compare the 1999 Jazz Cafe disc to the 2000 IOW disc. On some songs, the Alembics sound more like "Anemics" by comparison, and they're not easy basses to overshadow. Compare "Just Like That" or the intros on "Keep Climbing". I keep preaching the GB gospel. Everyone should try one, with a great amp, someplace where you can crank it up. Morgan, how's Mark's Daphne Blue GB doing? Did someone on here get the red one? I seem to remember soneone in the US getting it, but didn't know him. At the Liverpool show last year, prior to Thunderthumbs was a Scottish lady (her name escapes me) singing Elvis Costello songs. Particularly I'm after 'Accidents Will Happen' and 'I Want You'.... I had to put something up... just heard Matt Drudge use World Machine as bumper music tonight. Matt often uses Starchild, but I've never heard him use any other '42 tune. What fun! Lookin' forward to the Vegasfest! -Pink ------------------------------ Subject: Mark on BBC1 From: "" Date: Mon, 09 Jul 2001 09:21:28 Morning all I have been informed that Mark is appearing on BBC1 next Saturday 14th July on QUESTION OF POP, a bit like the old POP QUIZ thing that he was on a few years back. I think it should be on at around 5.35 pm. best Dean _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Subject: Bootleg artworks From: Steve Robson Organization: Cadence Design Systems Date: Mon, 09 Jul 2001 10:26:31 +0100 Greetings all, Can anyone point me in the direction of the artwork for the various bootlegs, digest projects etc etc? It would be extremely useful for anyone proposing to copy a CD, so that they could also provide either a print of said artwork, or at least the CD recipient could get it and finish the CD themselves.
