Good grief, do my eyes deceive me or has somebody said something pejorative about the Y Chromo Boyz? I take it all back Cliff, get lost, we can do without that kind of independent thinking round here. >Andrew: good to see that you're still saving up for the Season Ticket, >despite the drop **FOOTBALL TALK, THOSE NOT INTERESTED PLEASE SKIP TO THE WORDS NORMAL YCB BUSINESS RESUMES HERE** Normally the optimism of the new season lasts a good half hour into the first game. This year I was looking at a couple of games at least. New manager, shiny new ground, bright new yellow shirts which according to the website will boost morale (good grief)… But no, an unbeatable record for that sinking feeling has already been established. I was renewing the season ticket and as she was swiping my card I asked, after seven years of the same one, "So, presumably I’ll be getting a new ticket then?" "You will eventually" she said, "but for now it will be a voucher system. They couldn’t afford the machines for the swipe cards." Anyway I don’t know what you’re laughing about with Glenn ‘Relegation’ Roeder in charge and the rats hurtling themselves off. NORMAL YCB BUSINESS RESUMES HERE >Subject: blatant self promo >From: "Winston Walker" You are hereby granted honorary membership of the Y Chromo Boyz. Incidentally, much to my sadness, nobody bought the Lighthouse Family 12"s in my recent auctions. Nor indeed did I get any bids from the person who e-mailed me asking ‘Why is this record 12 inches if it’s a single?’, arguably the most redundant question ever asked. I shan’t bother to mention said person’s nationality. >Subject: Marcus >From: Richard.West @ invensys.com > >And to any of you who haven't yet bought 'M2', his new CD, all I can say >is... WHY NOT?? You have no excuse. Go and buy it immediately, and hear the >truth. Eh? What are you blethering on about? Just at the moment I’m getting my "truth" from Michel Petrucciani’s Solo Live, Los Ronaldos’ Idiota, Jason Rebello’s Keeping Time and Jellyfish’s Spilt Milk. So you go and buy those immediately and I’ll return the favour. A couple of days ago Jeff Mahoney mentioned with sadness the passing of John Lee Hooker. I take his point, but having watched a bit of the tribute concert shown last night on BBC2 (with Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt et al), recorded in 1992 by which point Hooker was already in his 70s, I have to say that the man had lived life to the full and was clearly still relishing what he was doing. Yes it is sad he died, but there was a hell of a lot of life there to celebrate as well. Compare that with Petrucciani, who wasn’t even 40 when he died with heaven knows what genius still left in him. Now that was sad. Then again nobody round here gave a toss about that either. Piano player, see. You can order in either NTSC or PAL and the guy who runs it is very friendly and ships fairly quickly. Ehhhh...not terribly, to be honest. Krys Mach nothwithstanding, I was never a great fan of Level 42 with horns. Actually, I really would like to see the return of Jakko and the two-guitar approach Mark took in the '99 fall tour. Guitars are better than horns any day! But, while I wouldn't campaign for it, I wouldn't hate a sax-player in the lineup. Anything to mix it up a bit. Cheers - Z. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Now i know that there are some seriously top quality bootlegs circulating of the stereo soundboard mix of the sight and sound gigs, they have crystal clear recordings of 1) Heathrow 2) Love meeting Love 3) the pursuit of accidents 4) Are you hearing what i hear ( with roto drum solo) Then there is the live at brixton accademy show again a board mix 1) Starchild 2) I want eyes 3) 43 ( with roto drum solo) add to this bits and pieces of high quality stuff from rockpalast etc,(out of sight out of mind) a DEFINATIVE 42 LIVE CD could happen Now if all this was to be put on to a cd set together with the live strategy show, would it not be awesome?????? C'mon guys if any of you are harbouring this material for god knows what reason, then hand a copy over for this compilation to happen, please the physical presence cds weigh in at 45 mins per disc, if you used 2x80 min discs and added the strategy live tunes, with the 2 shows worth of tunes mentioned above, then you would really have a slamming double live 42 album on your hands comments? and any other tracks i have missed out? As expected, it played perfectly on my Mac and not at all on my Sony DVD player. Curiously, the reason the Sony gave for not playing it had nothing to do with the PAL video format, but rather it cited "area coding", which I assume to mean the DVD Region Code. Can anyone else confirm that this disc is not coded for "universal" play? If so, it was a gross error on Mark's part, especially given that we specifically requested that the disc be playable in all regions.
