And then would anybody (probably not >Laurence) like to buy it off me? Well of course I have a copy. Surprisinlgy, for such an attractive item, it's price is not particularly high. Just 10 pounds on average. Try it on ebay, I think. with a few nice photos of the large picture etc, you might get up to 15 for it. (Especially if you say it's 'mage rare' ;-) ) L()Z ------------------------------ Subject: DVD update on mark-king.com From: "Winston Walker" Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 08:07:59 -0400 This comes from the site: The DVD is not region-encoded and should play anywhere in the world. However, it is in PAL format, so you should check your player can play PAL DVDs before you purchase. There are options for folks who have yet to invest in a DVD player, or are looking for a unit that will play PAL discs. Check out the APEX 660 at www.circuitcity.com This player has built in PAL to NTSC conversion, so you can watch this DVD and other PAL titles on your NTSC television. The cost at Ciruit City is $149.00, but it's regularly on sale for a lot cheaper. In addition, it will play VCD, SVCD, CDR, CDRW, and even MP3 files burned to CDR or CDRW. In fact this model is avail at www.bestbuy.com for $137.00 The is yet another unit, the APEX-3201 that also displays PAL titles, and it's only $129.00 at www.bestbuy.com There are quite a few other DVD units that do the same. For a pretty good listing, go to www.vcdhelp.com, and check out the DVD player list. Hope this helps, Winston ------------------------------ Subject: Ruining The Family From: "Colin Gupta" Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 10:47:46 -0500 >Subject: Silver Streak >From: "Andrew Goodwin" >Date: Tue, 19 Jun 2001 23:49:28 +0100 >Anybody (probably Laurence) give me a rough idea what this here Canadian >gatefold Lessons In Love 12" is worth? I know it is not marks fault but this whole dvd thing has been one big disappointment after another. I bought my dvd player back in dec. when the dvd release was announced just so i could watch the concert then the dvd was canceled then i got the video rom and my computer isnt fast enough to play it clearly and then i finally think it was all worth the wait and i cant watch the dvd either sorry but i nad to vent a little . bob ------------------------------ Subject: Music video on DVD From: Don Z Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 11:02:32 -0700 (PDT) > Just got Marks DVD and I've got one word to say to > all the US, Canadian, and Japanese > orderers........PAL. But don't let that discourage. Mac and PC DVD-ROM drives should play it fine, and you're gonna have one of those eventually (if you intend to keep using computers). I tend to watch music-oriented DVD's on my studio computer anyway (a Mac G4/500), usually during breaks from jam or recording sessions. And, as a bonus, the picture is always clearer than on a TV. Top 5 Favorite Music DVD's: 1. Classic Albums: Steely Dan - Aja 2. Two Against Nature - Steely Dan's Plush TV Jazz-Rock Party 3. Classic Albums: Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life 4. Madonna - Truth or Dare 5. U2 - Rattle & Hum Wanted, but not yet available on DVD: 1. Sting - Bring on the Night 2. Doobie Bros. - Listen to the Music Tip for anyone who loves Steely Dan, jazz-rock, and tales from the studio: get the "Classic Albums" DVD on Aja! It's the best documentary piece on a band I've ever seen, offering real insight to how SD made their fabulous records. Cheers - Z. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I already sent in my order (email) for the DVD and now I find out that it isn't encoded to play on North American (NTSC)DVD players. I may have to now buy a code free DVD player. Anyways, it is still a collector's item. From: Nathania Apple Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 15:14:52 -0700 Just ordered a bunch of things from mark-king.com last week and was pleasantly surprised to find the Isle of Wight DVD in the postbox when I arrived home this afternoon. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet (where did I put that cursed DVD module for my PowerBook?) but have a sneaking suspicion that it won't work..... Ah well, another item to add to the growing collection (my husband thinks I'm mad!). BTW, any other US digesters planning to attend the BritFest/Jazz Cafe gigs in November? It does play in my DVD player but because its in PAL the picture continually flips and is in black and white. Good news is that I can take it to my work, run it through a time base corrector/PAL/Secam converter and dub it to VHS. Also it does play GREAT through my DVD rom drive on my computer, so now instead of selecting two songs at a time from the CD-Rom, it will play the show from start to end. Any one know of the region codes to "crack" certain DVD players so they will play all regions. I know it can be done but have not found the codes for my player (Pioneer 525) on any web site. What on earth happened with the soundboard-controller... Did he fell a sleep?? It's a shame! Wasn't there anyone who could master that thing? When Mark is singing/playing and the keyboards come in (over my surroundspeakers) the centerspeaker is muting... I tried all possible set-ups but no result. Videoquality is good, btw.
