I tried to keep an open mind but their attitude to the audience who had paid =A320 to see their mediocre product disgusted me. The only good song is that Perfect Ten but the song dies after it goes into chorus bit. A real anti climax. They should put a different chorus in it, liven it up a bit. It was all a bit down tempo between the insults. However the night was not totally lost. The support band was Bare naked Ladies who were really talented and funny, especially the rapping guests from the audience. (They had wrote to the band previously). The crowd went wild at them. ------------------------------ Subject: BRILLIANT / hair From: "Mike Bartlett" Date: Thu, 14 Jun 2001 11:21:05 Just want to say that the last two 'gests (163 & 164) were BRILLIANT - as evidenced by their size (25kB and 22kB respectively) - stuffed full of vitamin L! No doubt you disbelieved all the >statistical evidence of Michael Guquilon (French bloke but I don't think >I've spelt it right, but I have the book at home and will look tonight) He >was trying to debunk astrology but found statistically significant evidence >in favour of it. Luckily he had an open mind and did not dismiss it, and of >course he had arranged his own statistical perameters so was satisfied with >them. Yes. Astrology is utter rubbish. well done. No wait, I've read further, that was just the preamble. Statistical evidence? I would be interested to know if Monsieur Guquilon was actually a statistician? Also, argument from ignorance. I suppose you're not remotely interested in the hundreds of studies finding no causal relationship between astronomical positions and human behaviour. Whatever you think your 'star sign' is, STATISTICLLY, it's probably the wrong one. Since since (yes; since since) they drew up the charts the zodiacs (the constellations which the sun appears to pass through) have changed a lot. What about the constellation of Ophiucus which the sun passes through in December. What about all those poor ophiucans without a sign? What did people do 6000 years ago, go around asking everyone who had inherited a fortune when they were born and then decide everyone born at the time would inherit a fortune? Cloning???? No need, there are only 12 types of people!!! (13 if you include ophiucus; but no-one does; conveniently brushed under the ''magic carpet''. Remember, 'statistically' correlation does not prove causality. Just because the banana crop of the seychelles is 'statistically proven' to follow the trends of house prices in islington, does not mean that if more bananas are produced in the Seychelles house prices in islington will rise. PS. Any woman giving birth soon. Have a caesarian quick so you can get it out before Mars leaves us. You're bound to have a successful athlete as a child!! Doh! Astrology works!!! This means that there are a lot of satisfied customers. It does not mean that astrology is accurate in predicting human behaviour or events to a degree significantly greater than mere chance. Is it possible that I am who I am because of the position of the planets, stars, moons, comets, asteroids, quasars, black holes, etc., at the moment of my birth? Yes, it is possible. Do I have any reason to think that this possibility is more likely than the opposite possibility, namely, that these matters are insignificant and irrelevant to my 'destiny'? No. I can't find a single good reason for believing any of this. But I am a Leo and we all know how stubborn I should be. Anyway, how can we link this all up with Level 42. Well, I can't think of any reference to gullible people, but plenty to all think cosmological. 'My Hero'! The brightest stars explode into a thousand moons. AT This Great Distance!! That's all about stars and that. I guess this is my weakest Level 42 posting ever - sorry. I have to dash, I a tea leave reading to do. Andy Goodwin says: If that link doesn't work search under seller "aaarghh!". 10% off to Digesters. This has been an advert, so let me just say "Y Chromo Boyz" to legitimise it. OK. SO wait till there is 5 seconds to go on the auction, then bid 1p more than the leading bid. You can sell the record to the previous bidder, knock off you 10% recudtion, ooooh, you could make, well, a pound!! Sadly, the original data base from which he made his amazing 'findings' was destroyed in Paris. Applying the same techniques on other date, even french data, well, it just does not back up his findings. Now would you believe that! http://www.abc.net.au/science/correx/archives/randi3.htm phrenology anyone? ------------------------------ Subject: People From: "Colin Gupta" Date: Thu, 14 Jun 2001 08:44:46 -0500 I have been wondering how the different bass sound is achieved in People (SITL). Halfway through, there is that bass riff that sounds quite different from the rest of the bass. Is that a different bass or some sort of phaser or distortion box? Just wondering. I must say I have been a hypocrite. As it turns out, I'm one eighth canadian. So now I have to cross canadians off my list of eligible nation bashees. So to all you canadians from Canadia, I apologizes, I have made plans to conquer you not just because we can, but now because you are my people and we must unite. I also have the british in me, but I'll still bash you all from time to time just because it's fun. Apparently there is a line from my family back to Scottish nobility, but as this is still not verified, I will not bash the scottish as they beat the crap out of eachother as a sign of friendship. I'd hate to insult them. I've got some french heritage which I am currently contesting in court. The small bit of German can stay there, it may come in handy someday. So who does that leave, I'm found of Scandinavia, and Russia for that matter. Hmmm....well congratulations, I guess I'm going to have to shut up for awhile. Peace, Bri P.S. I wonder if MArk would want to sponsor a contest to send one lucky digester from Sacramento to his next show..... _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Subject: Titanic From: alex.friesen @ sickkids.ca Date: Thu, 14 Jun 2001 11:27:43 -0400 >From: "Brian Flint" > >YEs, I've always known that Neil Peart et al is Canadian, >but I also now that Alanis Morrisette is too and you'll >never live that down. The best tune (which wasn't a single for some incomprehensible reason) talks about "how us Catholic girls can be / we make up for so much time" and "my brothers, they never went blind for what they did."
