I hope he's not been playing with those awful Radiohead boys - they're so rough - I blame the parents, me. Anyway, let me know if you see him - I'll have another look around - maybe he's hiding in here somewhere. If you're reading this, Lawrence, get in here at once - your Digest is getting cold.... If MK chooses a sax player will it be Krys Mach? or will it be Gary Barnacle? (is he still alive?) or a complete unknown to really piss people off? this will, of course, be a real problem for him 'cos he is a libran - naturally indecisive (not bossy, I should know, I live with one). Ah! the America v Canada debate will also soon start followed by lots of Canadian jokes posted by the Americans (then Loz Green can start his "America and Canada are one and the same" thing - great stuff. Great comment from AG re Englishmen singing about American stuff. I went over there once and told them I was Princess Di's kids Nanny and I lived in a quaint cottage on the Palace grounds - they believed me. I also said I liked Wham - they believed me. That could be an interesting way to freshen up the gigs, but I much prefer the two-guitar approach Mark took in late '99, with both Nathan and Jakko! I'd love to see that line-up again. The occasional use of sax was cool (like the soprano in "With a Little Love"), but I never really liked Level 42 with horns, to be honest. From: Chris Lawless Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2001 18:56:41 -0400 Hi all, A couple of responses to recent Digest questions and a few thoughts about the ML album CHANGES. As with the last multi-topic message I posted, I suspect everyone will ignore this as well... Favorite drummers (in no particular order except for the top spot): 1) Cozy Powell 2) Jeff Porcaro 3) Simon Wright 4) Gary Husband 5) Simon Phllips 6) Gary Mallaber Level 42 dream: In the dream, I was in my room lying on my bed while 'Dance on Heavy Weather' was playing on my old stereo (on cassette BTW). That's really the extent of it. It was kind of surrealistic though- the room seemed much brighter for some reason, and I had the impression (in the dream) that it was snowing outside and rather heavily at that. Think it was also around 5 in the evening on a December night (again, in the dream). Now that I think about it, I think I was fixated on watching the two heads (or whatever they're called) in the tape deck rotate as the tape played. Go figure. CHANGES: Pulled out my copy and gave it another good listen to the other day. While perusing the liner notes, I noticed in the 'Thanks You's' it mentioned "Mark K. for the ocean waves". Wonder if he was referring to the story he told at the Komedia gig about the inspiration for 'Life Will Never Be the Same'? Speaking of which, did Mrs. Pink ever finish mastering the tape she had of that show? You know, I get the impression that this wasn't a very good time in Mike's life- which is understandable considering the band was coming off the death of Alan Murphy. The entire album- even the more upbeat tracks- have a certain...darkness woven through them. And the closing track (Jung)- talk about dark, brooding and introspective. Anyone else pick up on this? Chris L. PS- Two unanswered questions from my last post should anyone be feeling generous: 3) The new Guaranteed compilation sounds interesting, and I'd like to do a write up about it for my review column @ www.openupandsay.com. Could one of you kind souls who already has a copy take a look at the liner notes and look for contact e-mail address, fax number, or even the website of whoever released it and e-mail the info to me? Much appreciated. 4) Is there a kind soul on the Digest who could help someone with a not-so-great printer get color copies of the artwork for AS YEAR GO BY? ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Or maybe it's Rosa from Rosa's Cantina in El Paso. >> What an imagination! I smell a fan fiction story in there somewhere. Hmm....:-) <> Wow! Thanks for the compliment *blushes* Now for the scary part: I learned about the importance of rhythm by listening to Mariah Carey remixes. I know, I should have said L42 mixes but it's not true. Usually L42 always has some good kind of groove going on so the difference in their remixes isn't much; that is both the original and the remix rock. But in ordinary pop, some of the songs just lay there. Classic example is Carey's Someday. It kind of just lays there on her debut album. But when Shep Pettibone got a hold of it BAM! He jump started it into life. That's when my eyes were opened:-) I saw da light! Didn't Shep do some remixes for L42? Didn't he remix Lesson's in Love? I'm not sure. I know I have the remixes around here somewhere... Tenthsun (aka Terri) ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V2001 #161 From: "Laurence F.
