I'm trying to track down a copy of the CD All Alone With Friends by former Shadows guitar legend Hank Marvin. I have looked on the web without success. So if anyone can help me get in touch. Many thanks Lesley ---Open Email - Email on your TV with talk21--- ------------------------------ Subject: WARNING - thinking out loud From: "Mike Bartlett" Date: Thu, 07 Jun 2001 10:47:56 'allo peeps.... ....just go with me on this. My top 5 non-L42-related gigs: 1. Queen - Brighton Centre 2. The Clash - Brixton Academy 3. Madness/Specials/Selector/The Beat/Bad Manners - Brighton Top Rank 4. Genesis - Brighton Centre 5. Lloyd Cole - The Basement, Sydney, 2000 Most too long ago to remember the actual years! Honorable mentions go to UB40, George Benson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Also, saw Shawn Mullins play at a shopping centre here in Sydney last year - he did Lullaby, Shimmer and Everywhere I Go - brilliant stuff and a nice geezer too. My vote for the most consistently crap rock interviewer goes to Molly Meldrum. He's probably only familiar to Aussies, so the rest of the world is saved from this absolute 18 carat 100% tossbag. If we had a vote for top 5 Rock Prats, would Liam Gallagher always be number one? Who would be the biggest poser? What about the top 5 Rock Fashion Cock-Ups - Mark's headband, circa their Spandau Ballet period, would surely feature. I once asked on the 'gest if anyone could name the George Michael single that includes a L42 song title. In amongst the usual smartarse answers, no-one got it right. Anyone wanna have a go? Go on, I dare ya. Anyone wanna send me a JayDee? Stop laughing, Rebecca.... Sorry, did I just say all that out loud?! "Take him outside and shoot him" Mark responds; concise and to the pint - I'm pretty sure he was joking :o? Top 5 drummers - forgot to include Billy Cobham, thanks Bruce, interessting to see such a varied selection, Phil seems to be ranking above Garry with something of a lanslide majority. --------------------------------------------------------------- Using a Macintosh? Not that I disagree with your logic, it would make sense for the Yanks, but what happens say if MK announces other gigs on the Weekend before that week in November and possible a Ryde Gig on the Saturday afterwards. Where would you place the Britfest then ? There are some potentially interesting ideas afoot for this years BF and the choice of the date is key to the success of the Britfest. I guess Sat 24th Nov would make the ideal provision date, but I would be reticent to set it in stone as MK could arrange a gig for that date which would screw things up a bit. As the BritFest man in America and "Official Britfest Travel Agent" can you please dissuade anyone in the states from booking their Flights until we get the full tour dates and hopefully select the best date for the BF. I do not want a repeat of last year were a number of individuals could not make the Britfest as they'd booked gigs and travel very early on and could not change their plans when a) the BritFest was sorted and b) the Ryde gig was announced. Trust me this year, we are gonna do something a bit different and it will be worth it... Anyone wanting to be a part of this years Organising committee and be in on the fun, or even if you have an idea for something we can do, email me. Just wanted to mention that I think the new RADIOHEAD album AMNESIAC is incredible. Recorded at the same time as KID A , this is far superior than that album.Even though KID A was critically aclaimed I honestly disliked it except for a couple of songs. Great album AMNESIAC and will be in the top 5 albums of the year...... WELL the old Mahoney's top 5 anyway. Hi Pom and RJ and great to hear from you again Steve. and Lolita thanks..I will mail you privately on the weekend. and to EMIKATIE and Rossini 66 days to go. wait till its 42 An Impeccable (AMNESIAC) Cheers From Sydney Jeff
