From: jmoore34 Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2001 03:37:56 -0800 Hi Level42 Digest: Hi Fellow Level 42's! I've been happy to know that I'm not the only one in North America that is a ardent admirer of the boys. I would like to inform everyone that I did a model sheet of Mr. Pink. I was inspired when I first heard the song back in 1985 (I was a little late by Level 42 Fan Standards!). I was in my second year of Animation at Sheridan College, Toronto, Canada. I never got around to animating Him (Mr. Pink) because of time constraints and We had to animate Goofy! Now that I'm all grown up, I'm about to embark on making Mr. Pink 3D. If you want to see Mr. Pink, e-mail Me and I would be more than happy to send it your way. Finally, I also have rough sketches of The Breezer Craft. I'm trying to find it and yes, that Baby is going to be 3D also. Thanks for your time. John F. From: "goldie100" Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2001 11:58:57 -0000 Hi all, And welcome back, Lisa!!. Just to agree with the point made about even some of L42s 'crap tunes' being much better than the stuff wallowing in the charts today. I am so glad I am not a teenager in todays world of boybands and synthetic dance tunes (although I must admit to liking SOME dance stuff!) Someone mentioned 'weave your spell' on yesterdays Digest - it remains one of my all-time faves, as it was the song that got me into the band in the first place. I find it is one of their 'fun' tunes, along with 'The sun goes down' which will always raise a smile and an overwhelming desire to get down and boogie!!. I would disagree with the person (sorry, forgot who) who claimed that, in his opinion, 'Love games' was a weak song. It will always be in my top ten - and along with HW and TCW was always a must-have during a live show (especially during the 'old days'). Regarding MKs athletic solo bass playing, well I used to fall asleep then. And that was usually when Boon took the opportunity to spark up a fag. A great show but what really got my goat was Mark chewing while he sang. It's not cool, it's disrespectful and flippant. The sort of "I hate the audience" attitude one expects from The Beautiful South, not L42. And all this Mark being bossy business. One Libran and three pisceans. There is no doubt who would be leader. Any astrology student would tell you that with all that water sloshing about, it would be like trying to walk in a swimming pool. I'll bet they needed a bossy cardinal sign to stop them wallowing in self pity and get em up off their artistic arses! Before you ask, no I haven't done their charts, but perhaps I will one day. Steve Randall ------------------------------ Subject: Bush to mark King birthday From: Greg Jamate Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2001 10:58:54 -0500 Hi folks, for slap bass enthusiasts and fans of funk, you may be interested in a video available of Larry Graham demonstrating his bass playing. It has 60 minutes of Larry thumping his bass in a studio accompanied by drummer Greg Errico and organist Robert Sam. It is in part a retrospective on slap history and explanation of interplay between a drummer and a bass slapper. I found it thoroughly entertaining, but I'm also a huge Graham fan. I ordered it over the telephone from the distributor below, it arrived at my US home in five days. Video title: GRAHAM FUNK BASS ATTACK http://www.halleonard.com/ telephone: 414-774-3630 Cost: $24.95 (US) Trivia question. What connection does Larry Graham have to the homeland of Mark, Phil and Boon? (think live) Anecdote of the day - this headline was at CNNs website Monday: "Bush to mark King birthday at Texas school" take care, Greg J ------------------------------ Subject: missing track /MK guest appearance / THIS IS MY SONG From: Erik Terheggen Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2001 02:13:15 -0800 (PST) Hi everybody, I want to thank everyone who responded to my question regarding the missing track; that features Mark on vocals. I wanna specially thank Lisa (mrs Pink) because the title she mentioned 'THIS IS MY SONG' by 'PEOPLE in PROGRESS' did ring a (big) bell. I am sure thats the track I was looking for. If anyone has the track and is able to Mp3 it; it would be most welcome I know its worth it.
