Excellent, let’s have one of those America v. Britain spats, there can’t have been one for at least six months. Preferably one with intrusive apostrophes and offhand dismissals of entire nations’ war efforts. Okay, so just pretend that it was funny. Best I can do after a rough night. ...Alex... ------------------------------ Subject: Level 42 on DVD From: "Colin Gupta" Date: Fri, 25 May 2001 12:43:21 -0500 For those who don't care, sorry to bring this up again (especially you nightfly who would buy them and then sell them). I would really like to see Level 42 footage released or re-released on DVD. I find the DVD format is a fantastic new way to enjoy a band and I think the time has come. All of the previously released vhs, laserdisc and cd video material should be re-released. Also, are there not several music videos, TV gigs and concerts that were never released at all? What about studio rehearsals or the "Complete Wembley"? Maybe there could be a box set with lyrics, etc. Anything would be appreciated, right? I know it's been discussed on the Digest and maybe I'm way off base regarding the financial feasibility of such an undertaking but I think there are a lot of us who would support it. If the entire CD library can be remastered and reissued for hardcore fans, why not this? Can anyone scream loud enough to make this suggestion for real? Is there another avenue to pursue with such a request? Isn't the Digest a vehicle for this sort of thing? L0Z do something! Colin P.S. Here is an excerpt from Mark's Guitarist Magazine interview regarding the CD reissues. Anyone know these guys or how to get the suggestion through? >What's the story behind these five double CD releases? >It's come about through George McManus at Polydor and a couple of real hardcore fans, Ian Buck being the main >driving force and Paul Crockford our old manager. Together they've re-mastered the CDs, giving them better >quality and making them sound fantastic. When we started, CDs hadn't been invented! So for the first three albums, >the CDs were only ever done as an afterthought. Now they're re-mastered from the half-inch masters and it's made >such a difference. >I've always been interested in technology and I'd kept copies and back-up versions of everything - out-takes, >demos, pre-release versions of songs and things that never saw the light of day and Polydor wanted to include >some. I've no problem with any of this coming out because I figured it would be the hardcore fans who would be >most tempted by these re-releases. It's been great to offer them something different as well as much >better quality.
