I got my tickets >on Wednesday, and I think theres some left. >My bass teacher at the moment is at the moment Nik Kershaw's player, so i >made sure that they play Easy, cos its such a great track, but apparently >its one of the main ones they do anyway. >Anyway, great to hear that Go West are still going, I might have to go and >see them soon aswell. >Tavs Tavs, if you get the chance, go and see them - I went to the Hackney gig on Wednesday and it was amazing - you won't be disappointed. Peter Cox is probably the best live vocalist I've ever heard - seriously worth the ticket money - he's always been my favourite male vocalist (sorry Mark!) and I was surprised at how well he cuts it live. A really good and varied set list, all the old favourites plus the two new tracks, from their recently released live album. And of course Gavin Harrison on drums and Lyndon Connah on keyboards, who I might add did and absolutely fantastic job. Seemed more relaxed than when he plays with Mark' s band, but he did say to me that he was a bit nervous as he'd only had a week's rehearsal. You'd never know it though, it was very polished. For anyone that's interested details of the remaining live dates are at http://www.zen.co.uk/petercox/gowest2.html There's not many left, but Lyndon said that they're still booking so a few new ones might appear on the list too. Some of the dates are supporting Keeble, Norman and Hadley (ex-Spandau Ballet), so that might be interesting. After the show we bumped into Nathan King and Jakko who had both been there to see the gig. I asked Nathan if there were any plans for Mark to tour again this year, and he said apparently Mark's up for it, but hasn't been approached by the Jazz Cafe or anyone yet, which surprised me seeing as it sold out so well last year. But anyway, Nathan suggested that we all phone/write/email the Jazz Cafe and request that they get Mark back for this year. Bye for now, Morgan. ------------------------------ Subject: All Of Me From: "Andrew Goodwin" Date: Sat, 19 May 2001 18:19:47 +0100 >Subject: All For You-hoo yes I'm being Frank >From: l.godderidge @ talk21.com > >Thanks to everyone who has e-mailed me in response to my posting on the >Digest >yesterday. > >If anyone is interested I will sell both for £30 including postage or £15 >including postage for one of them. Is this the same Janet Jackson CD which one can buy in every High Street store for £12.99? Bargain! Also intrigued by how this tallies with the previous day's statement "I will offer both CD's for absolutely nothing", but that's probably just me failing to grasp the complexities of language again. >I will of course be quite happy to swap one >or both CD's for one of the following. > >1. Nik Kershaw CD's The Riddle & Human Racing. >2. Level 42 Guaranteed album cover t-shirt (front cover photo on it). >3. Go West CD Dancing On The Couch. >4. Lionel Richie Renaissance or Back To Back CD's. At half three this afternoon Avid had a copy of Dancing On The Couch for £4.50. Their phone number is Oxford 200411, I think they do mail order but if not I can pick it up and send it to anyone who needs it (wasn't somebody else looking for it as well?) Price inclusive of my commission would be free! That's to say, £19.99 plus VAT. Avid also had a copy of Level 42 Live At Wembley should anybody be after that, also at £4.50. In all seriousness I can pick these up and send them out globally for whatever the cost of postage is. Has anyone actually received the CD yet from Amazon Germany - as I'm sure I read that someone had ????? Recently picked up "Its Over" on CD Video for a fiver !!! Can you get any software that will play these on your PC ?????? Bit quiet on the 42 front.. Time for a new edition of Word Machine hey Loz ????? I've recently been listening to some of the other unreleased instrumentals e.g Instrumental 1 etc and they're pretty good. Is the Go West live album worth getting and why didn't they play any gigs up North ? The North / South divide returns....... Still looking for issues of "Soundcheck" - if anyone wants to sell , trade, copy etc ???????? I've just heard that time will come to an end in 20,000 million years Richard Maybury maybury @ nildram.co.uk www.maybury.nildram.co.uk ------------------------------ Subject: A few quick questions From: lawford42 @ juno.com Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 01:42:48 -0400 Hi all, A few quick things to throw by everyone... 1) Does anyone have a current address for Michael Payne? I've written to him at something like six different addressed over the past year and had absolutely no response. 2) Speaking of addresses, I'd like to get in touch with Sean Green as well (and I'm sure he's reading this). So, please e-mail me privately at lawford42 @ juno.com. 3) The new Guaranteed compilation sounds interesting, and I'd like to do a write up about it for my review column @ www.openupandsay.com. Could one of you kind souls who already has a copy take a look at the liner notes and look for contact e-mail address, fax number, or even the website of whoever released it and e-mail the info to me? Much appreciated. 4) Is there a kind soul on the Digest who could help someone with a not-so-great printer get color copies of the artwork for AS YEAR GO BY? Again, it'd be much appreciated. Myself & Sara had a 9 pound 4 oz baby boy on Tuesday 15th May. There have been a few problems & he is currently up in the special care baby unit, he has been pretty poorly butis doin OK overall slowly making progress, we are hoping to have him home by the middle of next week. In Kilograms the weight is 4.2 KG, the time for the 2nd stage of labour (the pushing bit) to his birth 42 mins. When I came out of the hospital to drive home I was behind a 42 bus (I didn't even know we had that route number here in Reading), not exactly a coincidence like the others, but I am told I have 42 days to register the birth! I have also noticed that the equipment in the room he is in is marked up as hospital number 042.......... We have decided on the name Louis Mark. Yes THAT Louis, Sara chose it & it actually is nothing todo with the song (when I told her she said 'Oh have I heard it ?' my reply was 'what do you think dear ?', Mark however IS after some musician bloke - well it had to be after all those numbers didn't it! I have to say what a fantastic bunch of people are who are working for him & all the other babies that need special care. I was gobsmacked to learn how much the equipment costs & that most of it is donated by a charity support group for the unit. ------------------------------ Subject: Go West & Nik Kershaw From: l.godderidge @ talk21.com Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 10:55:16 +0100 Regarding my message for the Nik Kershaw Human Racing & The Riddle CD's also Go West's Dancing On The Couch. If it at all possible could someone copy these CD's to Mini Disc for me rather than offer me the original masters. Please get in touch. Many thanks.
