I see ANOTHER compilation is being released. This one with Guaranteed and Forever Now stuff on it. It is usually standard practice to add a little something on these comps for the more knowledgeable fans...like a demo or unreleased extended version. This one appears to have none of those incentives. I will buy it of course, but only to have it as part of my collection. I doubt I will actually put the thing in and play it. BTW, who is that LOSER in Toronto who SOLD his ENTIRE Level 42 collection? It is at Vortex Records at Yonge and Eglinton streets....everything is there, from Level 42 to Forever Now (Resurgence). Nothing rare however.....but the set includes all albums on CD and the old LP stuff. If you are a fan who has had trouble finding Pursuit of Accidents and True Colors on CD, and you happen to be in the Toronto area, I suggest you snap this stuff up. As for the person who decided to purge his Level Catalouge, you must have lost your fu... mind. So DURAN DURAN will be reverting back to their original line up! Wow..if DD can do it, Level 42 should consider it!! Come on Boon!! When Phil showed up for FN, it became the best of the NEW Level 42 stuff. If YOU were there, imagine the result! Okay, think of the MONEY then. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. ------------------------------ Subject: New Guaranteed compilation From: "" Date: Mon, 14 May 2001 15:17:29 Hey all ! Just picked up a copy of the new Guaranteed german compilation cd from the German Amazon site. The artwork is fantastic !, worth buying for this reason alone. Why didn't they use this artwork for the original GUARANTEED album back in 1991 ?. I bet the GUARANTEED haters would have had an albeit slightly better image of the album. Plus, am I right in saying that this is the first Level 42 compilation CD that RCA/BMG has put out ? (hence why only tracks from the rca era). From: alex.friesen @ sickkids.ca Date: Mon, 14 May 2001 11:21:44 -0400 Well, here it is, my Good Deed for the new century. Fortunately, I'm getting it over with early, so I can return to my regular curmudgeonly style for the rest of the hundred years. After a personal plea from Goldie, in which she promised to love me forever, I hereby pass on the news that Goldie100's new e-mail address is goldie1007 @ tinyworld.co.uk. She wants all her friends on the digest (both of them) to know this. Thank you for your undivided attention. ...Alex... ------------------------------ Subject: [ILF] NEW GARY HUSBAND CD From: "Mueller, Carl" Date: Mon, 14 May 2001 13:18:40 -0400 Everyone, Gary Husband's new album is now available!!! "THE THINGS I SEE - INTERPRETATIONS OF THE MUSIC OF ALLAN HOLDSWORTH" Now available for order, on Art Of Life records http://www.artofliferecords.com/ Carl --------------------------- A review by John McLaughlin: "It has been a considerable time since I heard a truly new kind of recording. This is one of those, ... and in addition it is from a musician whom I have known and admired for many years, not for his wizardry at the piano, but for his artistry at the drums! As a musician for the great majority of my life, I can inform you that this is no small accomplishment. In this recording we hear him playing the music of another innovator, guitarist Allan Holdsworth, whom he has accompanied at the drums for many years and is intimately acquainted with his music. I recall a concert of Allan in London some years ago, and after the performance I went to see him backstage only to tell him that if I knew what he was doing, I'd steal it! The guitaristic prowess of Allan is well known amongst the musical, and particularly, the guitar community of the world. Along with his mastery, his musical conceptions and compositions are equally well known and admired. It is perhaps the marvellous combination of Gary's immense musical talent as a pianist, and his knowledge of Allan's strange and beautiful music from the point of view as a drummer who knows so well the rhythmic intricacies of his compositions that make this recording so appealing to me. Thanks Gary!" John McLaughlin. February, 2001 ------------------------------ Subject: Radio interviews From: "andreambd @ sinectis.com.ar" Date: Mon, 14 May 2001 16:02:40 -0300 > Is there anyone out there with a large collection of L42 radio interviews ? > Isn't it an idea to put all of them on the Internet ? I would be very > interested to hear them. Wow !! I definitely support Sam’s idea, though I think we could do with just some of them, don’t you think ? By the way, any news about the China Fest on Saturday ? I’ve just had a quick browse through Lindup and Da Lata’s sites and no news so far. Any witness on the Digest who can share something with the rest of us who live too far away to cross the mountains to Beijing ? Bye !
