Out Of Sight Out Of Mind in particular is quite beautiful in a vaguely art-deco sort of way. And I for one really rather like the TPOA cover pic! OK, a quick straw poll -- what are people's favourite L42 and non-L42 cover artworks? Mine are Out Of Sight Out Of Mind and The War of the Worlds. > My wife and I are planning to visit the Isle of Wight > in the summer > If anyone has any recommendations about what to see or > where to go on the island I second all Don Z's recommendations, and would also suggest that you treat yourself to at least one lunch at The Crab Inn in Old Shanklin -- they do (or at least, they used to) the biggest crab sandwiches in the history of history itself. Oh boy, I can almost taste it now... ------------------------------ Subject: Tone's From: "Brian Moore" Date: Thu, 03 May 2001 11:31:38 +0100 Digesters, This is probabaly an old chestnut, so forgive me ! I bought mine years ago at free record shop, 1 yr later they had the tape again in the racks but this time INCLUDING the level words... From: Philip Lee Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 15:54:49 +0100 The Britfest 2001 web site is up and running: http://www.tazmania.org.uk/britfest/. Yes its a bit early but we are going to be a bit more organised this year. For example... 1) Y-Chromo-Boyz are booked to play already! 2) Anyone interested in helping out with the organising this year please email me: phil @ tazmania.org.uk. My wife has banned me from organising a Britfest ever again so I am going to need some help ;-). 3) Anyone got any good ideas for what we can do? eg... a) Donating any profits to Children Say. b) Any other bands out there wanna play? Shout out, lets get some good ideas flowing... Also, slightly off topic, my wife gave birth to a little boy, Christopher James "CJ" on Tuesday. I have since discovered that it is law in England to register the birth of you child within 42 days of birth. Level 42, Starchild, Weave Your Spell, > The Chinese Way, Out > Of Sight Out Of > Mind. All wonderful artwork. You need to get out more. > Firstly, a qualification. I own only 4 L42 singles in total, so I didn't know about most of the artwork you mentioned. I was just judging by the albums. So I checked forevernow.com. Out Of Sight Out Of Mind is OK, I'll grant you that, maybe TCW and WYS at a push, but I personally wouldn't call them wonderful. Just my opinion. And even though it doesn't agree with Loz's, I'm sticking to it and so I won't use the soap in the way suggested. As regards getting out more, I seem to remember being the one who didn't have the faintest idea who Joy Barling was. Maybe that's because I was out, rather than sitting inside reading through sleeve notes for the xth time. On an altogether different and considerably more interesting note, thanks to Ron van Aperen, Don Z and Jennie Irvine for the lowdown on the IoW. I'm really looking forward to going. David ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V2001 #122 From: "Mike Linsell" Date: Thu, 03 May 2001 20:59:24 +0100 Having spent a while skulking around the edges and just 'listening' I thought I'd contribute. If that's okay. If I can move without someone swearing or going into one. 1. Agree with you Bunty; you'd have to be fairly 'committed' (or should be) to want to find Annie's shop if you were looking from the fan's point of view; of course if you just happen to want to buy what she sells that's different. By the way, it's actually a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise that she's running. 2. Yes, the IOW is a fantastic little gem of a holiday location - there are some decent restaurants and bars there too and the cliffs around St Catherine's point are good for walkers. 3. If anyone's interested, I have a negative from the photo shoot for the True Colours album cover that I'll sell. It's not the shot that was finally used. 4. Can anyone tell me, why is Micro Kid live included on some of the RITF single releases but not on the Live at Wembley video which was the same gig? 5. When is Mark touring again? 6. Why are there two versions of Billy's Gone on the two versions of Forever Now? 7. A recommendation - tenuously linked to L42 via Stanley Clarke: Animal Logic's music is good. They had two albums in 1989 and 1993 and there's a feel to the tunes that I know you'd all like.
