Hello to you too. Fine thanks. I've just been going a personality change in recent months and I have now officially turned from an irregular poster (if you see what I mean) into a regular lurker. I thought I'd almost perfected it, but it looks like I'll have to try a little harder. Besides, I was ashamed to admit I have failed in my mission. I have managed to get 1 Estonian vaguely interested in L42 and absolutely no Estonians at all very interested. Still, that one shows promise - she likes Starchild (the original I mean, not that BRM or BMX or whatever it was). > I have also been told I am not a fan anyway - I don't like > 'Guaranteed'. Ho > hum. Yeah, I never saw them in concert and didn't even buy Physical Presence until the reissues came out, so what does that make me? Ah, I know, a lurker. > From: Richard.West @ invensys.com > > >The most striking aspect of it was that they managed to > >make a video for The Chant Has Begun which was even worse > >than the lyric, something I never would have thought possible. > > LOL. I've never liked that bloody song, but I thought I was > the only one. > Thank goodness...! > Yep, when I joined the Digest everyone was all enraptured in a debate about the worst L42 song, and I seem to remember giving half my vote to The Chant Has Begun (the other half going, of course, to The Ape). But The Ape has one big advantage over The Chant Has Begun - they didn't make a video for it. LimitsToMySanity ------------------------------ Subject: Stuff From: "Colin Gupta" Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2001 11:36:55 -0500 Well, I happen to be quite fond of The Chant Has Begun and the lyrics. The musicianship is quite good. I like the rhythm and the sounds of the song in general. I can't remember the video though. Of course the lyrics cannot be compared to the greatest lyric in Rock and Roll; Johnny Lydon's "God save the queen, We mean it man" Hey what's up with this digest? No religion, no politics, no nationalism, no top ten, no laughing, no non-level 42. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with what anyone is posting, but are we so tolerant of anything these days that we are intolerant of freedom of opinion? Even if the opinion is hogwash in your opinion, are we not all entitled to one and to express it at our own discretion? I say what Roland said. Say what you want Say what you will 'Cos I find you think what makes it easier And lies spread on lies We don't care Belief is our relief We don't care By the way, The Hurting is by far Tears for Fears greatest work. Ok, how about this. I love Something About You. It is the best song in the world. Mark is soo boss. That car in the video is bitchin'. Blue is my favourite colour. I wish they would get back together and play Something About You at my next birthday party. Amongst the goodies are:- Oh Darling Hell The Planets Now whilst these really DO sound like Mark & co, they are instrumentals, so I am sceptical. Can anyone confirm or deny that the above are legit and any more info about them?. Cheers, Roy. ------------------------------ Subject: 1) Hipshot; 2) Curbow; etc. From: Don Z Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2001 10:28:40 -0700 (PDT) > I have a "Hipshot" on my 4001 E string which drops > it down to D at the flip of a switch. It was only > about 10 bucks. Wow, that's a deal, as a new name-brand Hipshot is about $75. I put one on my Spector back in the 80's, and when I bought the GB, Bernie installed one at no extra charge (gotta love GB's options policy!). Since he uses Hipshot tuners as well, all the keys look alike, unlike my Spector (which has Schallers, but a Gotoh on the Hipshot). :o( > 4-string Cort Curbow Sean, I agree! The Cort Curbow is one of the best bass values out there. The body is made of plastic, and the fretboard is something called "ebonol"--your guess is as good as mine. But they play well, and the electronics are tuned to have that bright, snappy active sound. A friend of mine bought the 5-string and loves it. Does anyone here have a REAL Curbow Petite, with the rockwood neck? I've only encountered the Cort version, so far. Cheers - Don Z. PS - A new Digest pin is in the works. Will Mark release the IOW show on video / DVD ? 2. Will L42 ever reform ? 3. When is Mike's album coming out and is he doing any solo shows ? 4. Why does Phil 'hate' Mark ? 5. Can anyone recommend a good Wally Badarou album to buy ? 6. Is there anything Loz does not know about L42 ? (I loved the answer about where Mark buys his paper !!!) 7. Will Mark tour this year ? 8. When will we see Trash 2 ? 9. Does anyone have a good live version of All Over You ? Till the sun goes down...... I would have thought that in the all new "I don't own any of the albums or know any of the songs but I'm still a huge fan" Digest, that would be a definite plus point. I, for one, am glad that I can finally come out of the closet and say I've never heard a single note of music by the band. I only joined this list in the first place because I thought it was an obliquely named tribute to the writings of John Dos Passos. For what it's worth, my own take on it is you're a fan of something if you want to be. >Subject: Narrow Minded Individuals >From: "Randall, Steve" > >I also didn't think I was intolerant. Stansjennix, I am SO glad to see that I am NOT alone in my ignorance of every detail of L42~~!!! To Everyone Else: Thanks to all those that e-mailed me personally (OR NOT) to say hello and welcome! I do have a general question though! What exactly is the difference between a Levelhead and a Levelfester? Or are the two terms interchangeable? MK made reference to Levelfesters at the Nov. Jazz Cafe Gig (I think)... And a note... I don't know if she is a Digest Member or not, but I want to thank the girl (woman, lady...) that took the pictures of me & MK at the Worcester Show. Never got her name... But it was quite nice of you! Was it you that had him sign across your boobs??? I was WAY too shy to even THINK of doing that! (AS IF!!) Truth is, I just didn't want to mess up my hair... I AM from CALIFORNIA, mind! You know... the "Pamela" syndrome and all that! And... before you ask that burning question... NO! I havent had any plastic surgery YET... I am just in the planning stages!!! My chins have not fallen quite far enough to pull them back up... but they will, I'm sure! Now the "baby pouch"... hmmmm I figure I might need that again... I'll get back to ya on that one next week!!! :) LimitsToMySanity
