From: jeff spicer Date: 12 Apr 2001 10:19:45 +0000 I am travelling to Canada for work at the end of the month and wanted to know if any local digesters are up for a beer. I will be stopping in Ottawa, Regina, Vancouver and Whitehorse. Mail me and let me know. Jeff. P.S. People are killed through the greed and anger of over zealous men and very little else. I hold the opposite opinon, your relegation of humans to the literal offspring of soup has diminished the value of human life. If you think God is imaginary, fine. But to surreptitiously try to assimilate everyone to your mindset with the constant use of emotional throwaways such as 'imaginary' and 'in the sky' makes you as guilty of proselytising as the people you set out to condemn. The United Nations has a millennium resolution signed by 150 world leaders that states tolerance is one of the six fundamental values essential for peaceful international relations. I suggest you fill in the religious orientation section of the census 'intollertist'. (And maybe I'll put Inerrantist ;-) L()Z ------------------------------ Subject: Not Recall From: "Laurence F. GREEN(SED)" Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 11:27:36 +0100 I would NOT like to recall my previous message thanks. Has news of the 42 just dried up? I think this is one of the most barren digest spells in living memory. Hopefully this up and coming religious fervour created by my posting will jolt everyone back to life and we can get down to some serious Level 42 discussions. L()Z ------------------------------ Subject: Stomp! From: "Nigel Collier" Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 11:30:55 +0100 I was in Ikea lastnight with my daughter queueing for a couple of hot dogs when some sweet Bros Johnson funk came on the in-store music system. Nice. Now never mind your top 10 albums thread, how about the top 10 most outrageous collars worn on album covers thread? Brothers Johnson would rate highly - narrowly pipping Stanley Clarke. BTW - I just joined the Jaydee owners club. Picked up a beautiful Roadie. You can see it here: http://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/nigel.collier/jaydee.html My first impression upon playing it was that the front pickup is very far forward - right where my index finger would normally want to pop, instead I just kept popping the pickup. Consequently I'm going to have to move my right hand much further forward than I'm used to. Is this a more 'correct' position for slapping in the first place - does the Jaydee force you to slap right forward (virtually on the fingerboard) as indicated by the popping groove dug out for the finger on some models? How do guitars get covered in jism !?!!?!?! ------------------------------ Subject: aggressiveness?? From: "BRUCE ODOWD" Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 12:43:43 -0000 All that I was tring to find out is if there was a person or two that I could talk to locally about music... something that I really love. I didn't mean to sound aggressive, or anything like that. Sorry if it appeared that way. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Subject: Florida Fans From: Michael Thomas Payne Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 08:22:58 -0500 >Are There any "LEVELHEADS" in Jacksonville Florida or what? Well, there might be fans in Florida, providing that (like the election) grabed the right CD's in the bin, but I expect that they are Lemonhead, Annie Lennox, Lightning Seeds, Gordon Lightfoot, Huey Lewis, or the Levellers fans by now thinking that they actually bought Level 42. Mikey "...isn't that UB40?" ------------------------------ Subject: I've just had an idea From: "David Robertson" Organization: Dundee University Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 15:53:54 +0100 I've just had an idea that may be quite fun! Many digesters seem to be in bands, or have recorded music in some capacity - what if we all contributed to a CDR, maybe called "Machineworld" - it could be burned and distributed to all the people on it. I guess this would need someone to be coordinator, I really haven't figured out any details, it just seems like it could develop into a nice fun idea. What do you think, folks? David Robertson PS. Yes I am in a group too - Swivel Chair is our name! ------------------------------ Subject: off topic -- scrolling supported From: "LaBossiere, David" Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 11:09:34 -0700 For any Steely Dan fans, I've just come into possession of a windows help file that contains that lyrics of probably just about every SD song ever recorded.
