Obviously Boon stands to make a bit more money if he sells them to a fan, who has some sort of nostalgic tie to the gear. Personally I've never understood the desire to own a musicians instruments. To me it's no different than any other guitar. Of course these comments come from a keyboard player who has never played guitar. Although I did own a bass, and played briefly. Needless to say I sucked, and it was actually before I became a fan of Level 42. :-) Funny that you never see a famous keyboard players gear for sale, or if you do, it always goes for the current used gear rate. There doesn't seem to be a famous used gear market for anything but guitars and basses. Somehow guitars have taken on some mystical element that makes them more valuable than a synth or a snare drum. I'd be happy to have ANY used Prophet 5, not just a unit owned by Mike Lindup. Having Mikes old keyboard sure as help aint gonna' help ME play any better. :-) As far as all the questions about converting the IOW Quicktime video to VCD goes, Roy Lake submitted a post on Feb 13th that explained how to do this. There are a few other ways to accomplish this task. To be able to play this footage on your DVD player, you will have to create a VCD. If you need info on what exactly a VCD is go to www.vcdhelp.com, which is a great source of information on this video format. In fact, this site has numerous tutorials on how to accomplish these things. If you need some help in doing this, and/or finding the software needed, feel free to drop me a line. I was going to attempt to type up detailed instructions, but half way thru I decided to stop. No point in sending a 2 page post that would bore the hell out of 90% of us. Tcoy, Winston ------------------------------ Subject: Computer Boffins – Help Needed From: "Andrew Goodwin" Date: Wed, 11 Apr 2001 09:58:58 +0100 Using Hotmail, Yahoo or even Outlook Express, is there a simple way of setting up a group of e-mail addresses so I can send the same mail to lots of people but when they receive it they only read the group name rather than all the individual e-mail addresses? If it can’t be done using any of the above is there any other free e-mail provider which will do it? Any responses direct to me rather than to the Digest please, and bear in mind that I have all the technical aptitude of a potato. On Sunday 29 April would-be= Jedi Knights have a rare opportunity to achieve official recognition for the= ir 'religion'. The date marks a UK census, and Star Wars aficionados are clogging up t= he Net urging fellow fans to declare their religion as 'Jedi.' They claim that if 10,000 people sign up, the Government will be forced to recognise Je= di as a legitimate faith. It all looks good on paper. However, it's not that simple. A spokesman for the Home Office confirmed that although the principle is sound, there's= a bit more to setting up your own church than turning up with a box load of signatures. He would not elaborate on what extra measures might be required, noting that the formal recognition of the Jedi religion was "not someth= ing the Government wished to be drawn on". A spokesman for the UK Census agreed with his Home Office colleague, scotching hopes of British skies filled with X-Wing fighters. "This is supposed to be a serious question," he sighed. Neither have the Obi-wan Kenobi wannabes thought through the possible downsides to their plan. What happens if 10,000 Darth Vaders declare themselves for the 'Dark Side'? Would it be possible for the two church= es to live together in harmony? No chance. It's only a matter of time before some unrepentent Luke Skywalker ends up tied to a stake on the village green= with Darth Maul lighting a bunch of faggots under him. If you still fancy signing up as a Jedi, the form should be dropping on= to your doormat any day now. The government has some census details here. May the force be with you. Bootnote For the benefit of our US readers, in England, a 'faggot' is a bundle o= f sticks popularly used for burning witches and heretics, and not what yo= u thought we meant. = ------------------------------ Subject: Ozfest...and Shelter Av.
