Standing IN The Light and True Colours yes they would both make the top 5 for me also, possibly WOrld Machine I don;t think RUnning In The Family definitly Physical Presence if we hadn't heard most of the songs before so I can't count that one. I can't say which is my favorite song or album but I can pool my favorite ones: songs: Out Of Sight Out Of Mind - As Years Go By - Kansas City Milkman - ONe In A Million - Tired Of Waiting - Why Are You Leaving - Staring At The Sun (I haven't heard that song for ages) - Billy's Gone Albums - Forever Now - Standing IN The Light - True Colours - World Machine - Level 42 L()Z ------------------------------ Subject: another L42 sample discovered!! (perhaps I'll MP3 post all houserips of L42, all from Starchild (got 'em all on CD or 12"), if anyone's interested): African Dream - Young & Free (Eightball US), Bucketheads - Time & Space (Henry Street US), Deadbeats Lounging - Got It Goin' On (2020 D-Vision UK), Kerri Chandler - While we're young (Freetown US) -------------------- Dirk Vael Technical Supervisor BPAL - AATS *******************Internet Email Confidentiality Footer******************* Privileged/Confidential Information may be contained in this message. Thunderbirds 2. Fashion Fever 3. Micro-Kid (cut from video) 4. World Machine 5. Children Say 6. Physical Presence (cut from video) 7. The Chinese Way 8. I Want Eyes (cut from video) 10. Love Games 11. Leaving Me Now 12. The Chant Has Begun 13. Running In The Family (original lyrics, cut from video) 14. Lessons In Love 15. The Sun Goes Down 16. Something About You 17, Are You Hearing? (cut from video) 17. Hot Water So there were 5 tunes cut from the video, which I'm sure had to do with the length of the videotape. Running In The Family was obviously cut because the lyrics for the tune were changed after the performance, so we got the Running In The Family video instead. Putting this full show on cd would be a very cool project for Polydor. Also, videos cameras were filming at those Wembley shows on 3 of the 4 nights. So although the soundtrack is the complete night of the 1st December, the video footage is bits from each night. Odd I know, but that's what happenned!!!! I picked up the japanese laserdisc of this show upon its original release, and must have watched in 20-30 times, and i never noticed that the show video was made up of 4 nights performances. It wasn't until I joined the digest that Carl Mueller pointed it out to me. Boon's sleeves going up and down? I was totally clueless!! (obviously I would be a piss poor detective) Now, regarding the digest project "As Years Go By", I have to agree with Dan James. This set and Past & Presence were done because the majority of the tracks on these were only available on vinyl, which was rare for the common fan to get. We all agreed that when Polydor released these on CD, we would cease to make it available. Well, it looks like 7 of the 11 tracks on AYGB will be used for the re-issues, hopefully later this year, so for this reason I'd think distribution of AYGB will halt, with the hopes that we would purchase the re-issues and support the band. The re-issues will be sonically superior anyway. I have it on good authority that within the next week or two there will finally be a major announcement with regard to the re-issues, so watch this space, as well as the major websites. It's a great line-up for all you funk and hip-hop fans and should have LOTS of surprises... Comet vs. Planet (similar to Chili Peppers) Lazy K (Former Basehead guitarist and performer whose music Entertainment Weekly called "addicitive" -- Prince fans should dig this!) and last but not least... Digable Planet's Cee Knowledge and the Cozmic Funk Orchestra (this is an act that I saw last weekend at a benefit concert and was VERY impressive!) Also look for special guest appearances by "popular Phily hip-hop heroes" who coincidently are playing a private party earlier that night! Area locals interested can drop me a line or get tickets at: Welcome to ticketmaster.com! And for those of you who are concerned about this not being a Level-42-related post, trust me, there is a connection here. All the pieces will come together soon enough! Mark Summers ------------------------------ Subject: Forever Now From: "Richard Maybury" Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2000 19:29:57 +0100 Howdy Folks, Just thought I would have my say on "Forever Now." I think that this is a great album and it is my second favourite L42 album behind "World Machine." Going back to my past comments on "Guaranteed" and "Staring At The Sun," I think the sign of a good album is the quality of b side tracks featured on the singles. Thus with "Staring At The Sun," a really weak track (in my opinion) was "Three Words" and I thought "At This Great Distance" is another weak track from "Guaranteed." However moving on to "Forever Now," b sides like "Play Me" and "Past Lives" are fantastic. Did you forget "Forever Now"? It was only one of the best albums ever made. I agree with you on "World Machine" and "True Colours", and maybe even "Standing in the Light", but I don't think I would put "A Physical Presence" or "Running in the Family" over "The Pursuit of Accidents". There is some excellent material that album that should not be looked down on. As for the top five songs, here is my list: "Eyes Waterfalling (The Prodigy) "My Hero" "Learn To Say No" "I Sleep On My Heart" "Love Meeting Love" I could name more, but hey, I love them all. I never new this existed. I have to agree with you Mark Summers that "To be with you again" is their top song of all time. I have been a fan of Level 42 since my mom introduced them to me in 1985 when I was 12 years old. It has been the only common thing me and my mom have. Unfortunatley because I live in the US I don't get to hear about Level 42 b/c their popularity has died down. I know they are a big hit in the UK. I just recently realized that Mark King has gone solo and had a chance to listen to his solo albums. If you guys out in the UK have any more cool info on the group that us Yankees don't get to hear about please let me know. I am particularly interested in seeing some of their live stuff. Gina
