Now a little old lady of 76, she always had a strong FAITH in God; she spent her whole life helping people -- building Spitfires or something at Ford's in Dagenham during the war; being a wonderful & loving mother and grandmother; helping out with meals-on-wheels and voluntary work at hospitals and all manner of charity shops and community work -- yes, in every true meaning of the phrase, a Good Christian Woman. And how is she repaid for this good work? How does her 'loving heavenly father' decide to show her how much he loves her? I'll tell you -- two strokes and Alzheimer's, that's how. Now my mother is stripped of all dignity; lifted in and out of her bed, cleaned and changed like a baby, and spends her day sitting in a chair picking threads off her cardigan. She no longer speaks English, the strokes having left her permanently dysphasic. I have to psych myself up for days before going to see her because she doesn't have the first idea who I am. There is no spark of recognition in her eyes, in fact there's barely any sign of life there at all. Everything that made her Joyce, my father's wife, my mother, my childrens' grandma, has gone forever. So I'm afraid we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one Neil -- if your god exists at all (and I am convinced he does not), then he has a very sick sense of humour and I want nothing to do with him. ------------------------------ Subject: Enough! And the last thing I care about reading in this digest is messages regarding religion! (santa vs. jesus) I can't think of more boring and "beat to a pulp" topic. Posting topics about Level 42 to the LEVEL 42 digest is quite a simple concept really. A concept that upon subscribing to this digest, most who no longer wet their bed would understand. And if any of you guilty parties want to send me hate mail, can you please send it to me personally in an effort to spare the rest of the digest readers?
