I can't believe a big fan like yourself could ask such banal questions having negotiated a chat with your hero. Being a fan and a Digester you might have been in a better position than most broadcasters to coax a really informed, insightful and informative interview out of Mark. Instead it looks like you wasted everybody's time. I thought only Radio 4's 'Today Programme' provoked intelligent people with childish questions. Sorry to sound off but what a wasted opportunity. This way, the silly, stupid, pointless and rude questions can be censored out, and the interesting ones get answered. Who would decide on which questions were presented to Mark, and which were not is the interesting thing. But, no dis-respect to Boon, I think a similar site for Mark would generate 100 times more traffic, which may be a problem. Anyway, the one on Boon's site was excellent, and Boon took the time to answer the questions briefly, but completely, which was great. Anyway, another 2bytes down the line... TCOY, Mark. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Get more from the Web. I think everybody is aware that SATS is a bit pants compared to L42's previous offerings, but what if the album was great, (obviously being miles better), and Polydor did agree to contract their new album afterwards? Would they have had more records?, its difficult to say with the departure of the Goulds, and with the death of Al Murphy, but surely its something to think about. From: dirk.vael @ lu.arthurandersen.com Date: Wed, 6 Dec 2000 14:52:42 +0100 Can the poster of this nice rare 'new' L42song (sounds like WM era, although it's 1981!) repost this tape in 192kbps/44.1kHz MP3 format instead??? This way I can run it through digital wizardy (relevel fluctuating volume, restore correct stereo balance, make it sharper, remove hum & fuss etc) and have a nice CD worthy version free for download for fans, since the MP3 which is now on forever now is worthless to burn on CD... (64kbps at 22kHz) And how do I get this digest on a mail-by-mail basis instead of 1 big mail per day? and about the reissues, they are very nice, a must have... Micro Kid is indeed promo only remix, cool!!!! WOL is 81 remix, and Take a look is the sax version, a dream come true! too bad about the shorter versions on Level 42, different (worse) version of 2heartscollide and the fact the sound of SATS in general is slightly clipping... I'll try to analyse in detail on my computer to see if there's was a compression problem or not. Also some demos of TC are shorter than the ones I have (they are cut off after 3,5 mins on the CD, why?). Now when will we have these other rare demos I have in fluffy-sucky tape quality but which are not on the rereleases... a rare cd, like they did with art of noise, where you have to register (proof of purchase of other discs) to be able to order it? ;-) thanks! FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Subject: nothing more to say From: "Laurence F. GREEN(SED)" Date: Wed, 06 Dec 2000 16:05:31 +0000 Carl/all, this is absolutely astonishing. I tell you, this is truly a great day for all Level 42 fans, because what we have here is an example of a pure Level 42 song. Not a B-side or an outake, but a genuine classic. If you remember, all those years back when I first came on the digest, I was mainly interested in a cohort of rare Level 42 songs. Thanks to the reissue we can narrow that down to three Level 42 tracks that are unreleased and not recorded. Haunted House, Morning and Nothing More To Say, to have uncovered one of these classics is nothing short of amazing. This has to be a one in a million chance. Look, I have even taken the afternoon off work to listen to this continuously. It sits perfectly on the 'Level 42' album, I am speechless, utterly speechless, what more can I say. We simply MUST do this: Someone in the know must clear the recording up from the source cassette OR we contact the original radio station and ask them if they have a copy ( I don't think this will be successful). Then I suggest we get the thing pressed on a new digest CD-single project and send all the profits to the original 4 members. Maybe put one of the demos from the 'Level 42' LP on the CD, or an unreleased bootleg. But I think we should do something with this, not in the least because it is a classic. I am sure even Phil would not be embarrassed by this, I mean, how could he be, it's Level 42 at their best. Classic bassline, incredible keys solo, doh!!!!! Anyone help me out with these? ?...bad times..? confront us every day the writings on the wall our love seems doomed to fade away your blue eyes waterfall I know it's over now it's all so clear somehow we both have nothing more to say your smile betrays the way you feel you just can't hide the pain i know that laugh is not for real there's no need to explain those tears that fill your eyes there only a disguise it makes me realise how close we came should we try again ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nothing more to say nothing more to say threw our love away nothing more to say ?.............love has kept today.............? nothing more to say what a price to pay nothing more to say ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I see you everywhere, my mind won't let you go ?these sounds? that fill the air it's your laughter that won't go I know our love is true there's no more we can do yet if we start anew what would we face ?would we find a way? Well any way just want to give a shout out to the IOW for having me back after 18 years! I swear The damn place has not changed a bit but that's that beauty of the place. I miss the heck out of all you dudes & dudettes, wish I was still in town to party on down. I read some disturbing stuff a while back on people being upset cause they didn't meet the King after the gig. I kinda felt those same types of feelings but I think it was a situation of "getting caught up in the moment" well It's all over & I bet I'll see most of ya next year & may be just may be we'll get lucky. Or we'll have a miracle & he'll play in NY & as promised, I'll take on as many digestives as I can or before the wife kicks me out! I do want to say that even though I missed Mark King, I did by some slight of chance get to meet Mike Lindup which was just incredible to say the least & if this message can get back to Mike.. Thank you ever so much for your time, the time we stole from you & your girlfriend & I wish you all the very best on all future endeavors, thanks Mike. As you can all imagine meeting with Mike was a dream come true cause he was a major power for Level 42. Well time is running out for me right now Just want to say thanks to all I met with Special thanks to Phil Jarvis & our special moment with Mike, thanks for the CD I think there is some real potential your bass playing is awesome dude & I shall be in touch privately, please send mail ! And the chap who dug the recording out. I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say, if someone had offered me a copy of Strategy, or a chance to hear Nothing More To Say, I've have gone for hearing the track any day.
