Can anyone tell me what station MK departs the train at on the end of 'SAY'....for the past 14 years I've tried to freeze frame, shot by shot, but the best I can come up with is 'Sherborne' - someone put me out of my misery b4 I finally wear the videos out and drive the missus mad. Forget that last bit - she's mad anyway! Another question - can anyone tell me where I might be able to acquire a jacket similar to the one MK wears in the 'LMN' video - the one with a double lapel? Last question and then I'm off - can anyone tell me what next weeks lottery numbers will be? I'm not greedy, just the first 5 and the bonus'll do!!!!!!! PS: Doesn't Beckham look an even bigger prat with a crop.... Keep on funkin' and up the 'Ammers HUGHSIE ------------------------------ Subject: Taking the Mic! From: Lisa Hack Date: Sun, 19 Mar 2000 11:55:10 -0000 "she's a closet anorak microphone expert - sorry Lisa the secrets out!)" Cheers John! Not through choice it's my job, I've been brain washed! Good to see a corner of support for Mike at Bartok, my quibble was that one the mics wasn't suitable for close vocal work but I think it was a "house mic" so maybe there wasn't a choice. Nice to see some of the digest gang, I still have "magical day" in my head...(I'll leave the review to you John) L. From: "cotter" Date: Sun, 19 Mar 2000 09:36:49 -0500 Does anyone have any high quality shows to trade? I have a few Level 42 items and a large list of various other bands to trade. cotter ------------------------------ Subject: From: "Poets.Chad" Date: Sun, 19 Mar 2000 09:46:27 -0600 Hello Digesters! to the few that mentioned the funk group Slave, thank you! I picked up a copy of the Rhino compilation featuring Steve Arrington. Stellar stuff, a definite funk essential to add to my collection. The bass playing really starts to kick on the 5th track. The CD has 15 tracks, well worth the $10.99 I paid for it. I am always searching for new music to add to my collection, so if any one knows of any other "MUST HAVE" Funk, Jazz, Trance, or pop Email me privately at: cp @ excelonline.com. I have over 500 CDs, some of which you may not have heard. I highly recommend "Get Ahead" by Curiosity Killed The Cat. I just picked up a used copy. If you like L42, and I know you do, you will be happy to have this one in your collection. By the way, this CD is much better than anything else that I have heard from them. My new favorite L42 song is the remixed version of "Out Of Sight Out Of Mind" on the Unreached Levels set. It was the first thing that I put on Saturday morning. What a great way to start the weekend! I have enjoyed Mark King's recent releases, but I do admit there seems to be some bass playing missing. I think that it would be great if he would release a CD showcasing some of his different bass styles. Maybe an instrumental jazz CD with some slapping and popping and some mellow stuff thrown in. He could call the CD "United KINGdom" or "Futurefunk". Well that is enough dreaming for now. Let me know what you all think about a Mark King Instrumental CD. Maybe he will do one if we all plead with him. All the best! Chad Poets QA/Manufacturing Support (612)315-5717 Poets.chad @ purwater.com ------------------------------ Subject: What are you saying? JULES ------------------------------ Subject: Forever Now & Fan Club Issues From: "Richard Maybury" Date: Sun, 19 Mar 2000 19:39:12 -0000 Howdy 42sters, Can anyone help me out with the following : 1. Was the Forever Now album released on LP ? If yes, any ideas where I can get hold of a copy ? 2. I read somewhere that Mark King remixed the Forever Now single which was labelled the "Porky Rides Again Remix". Is this right ? I though that this mix was horrible and a complete mess and I thought that Forever Now before being remixed had a lot of potential for a good mix / remix ? 3. Has anybody got for sale any of the L42 Fan Club newsletters from the beginning up to 1991 for sale ? Answers on a postcard please...... It was 1984-ish, i was still at school and had been into L42 for about 2 years, but had only heard them on radio or vinal. Then Channel4 (british tv station) aired a short series called "Play at home" involving bands of the day, and one show centered around our hero's returning to the IOW, to a youth center and teaching/jamming with local youngsters. Interspersed through the show were various bytes of live performance, including a drum solo by phil, which absolutley changed my world. Ammazing!!! Not long after I persuaded my dad to buy me a ticket to the next show at Portsmouth Guildhall. Never looked back. Incidently, if anyone knows how I can get hold of this footage(including the rather cheesey rendition of tie a yellow ribbon)) please let me know. Keep on livin' it up. JamesW. >> Hey dude, You're right. Phil is awesome. He's what I'd call a lyrical drummer. Really, when he plays it's not just percussive punctuation or keeping time; he's saying stuff. My particular favorite is Dance on Heavy Weather. I've always respected his role as a lyricist as well.
