In 1985 I bought a 12" single called Hot water. On the back was Hot Water(Mastermix). Its 10:21 long. Is this on disk someplace. I have never heard it...due to the fact that I have no record player. I also have a Limited Edition 12" single called....."limited edition 12"double single. I have to see another "double single" by any other group. It's real cool. Also I have Standing in the light on record. It has a different cover than the CD. Its marked promo copy o the back. I have a staring at the sun record promo copy. I have never played any of them....WOW...I'm going back in time..... I mean, its not as if Mark is exactly approachable in the event of consumer complaints. Anyone else who has a copy PLEASE listen to a point 50 seconds into the first track and then 2:22 into the second track and let me know if they've got skipping. Is it unique to my copy or was it simply part of the live recording? "When will I be Famous?" Gary 1) + 2) Mark played with Nik Kershaw on some of his tracks notably Don Quiote(sic) and the Riddle. I think he also played for "M" in the pop music era 3) Dont know why he played for Bros must have been the money or perhaps it was to show that dipstick craig how to play the bass - lol _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. I was surprised and pleased to find that the Borders Books chain carries it. Of course, I've also ordered copies direct from the publisher with my credit card. The number to call from the US is 011 44 01458 271117. Good luck - Don Z. ------------------------------ Subject: MK played on a boy band session?! From: Joey Vela Date: Fri, 27 Oct 2000 15:01:07 -0500 I kept the longboxes from "Running In the Family", "Staring At the Sun", and "Level Best", but they're a little beat up. > Subject: BROS > From: "Lin Gary" > Date: Thu, 26 Oct 2000 13:28:32 +0100 > > I have in my Level 42 collection a copy of Bros "Try" with Mark playing bass > from 1991. Hey, weren't Bros a teen-pop boy band? If so, was Robbie Williams ever a member? If he was, and Mark King played bass during one of Bros' recording sessions, that would be the supreme irony of all ironies! LOL! > Subject: Non-Level question > From: Lolitaj @ aol.com > Date: Thu, 26 Oct 2000 09:00:07 EDT > > Hey all, > > I am one of two lead singers of a Steely Dan tribute band [BTW, we are > awesome - three and four part harmonies, two guitars, great keyboard > player...] and we need a name. It can be witty, but should be readily > identified as having something to do with the band [The Royal Scam, etc.]. Show Biz Kids, Major Dudes, Babylon Sisters, and Dirty Work would all make cool Steely Dan-inspired bandnames. Isn't there a Steely Dan tribute band that tours nationwide called Pretzel Logic? > Subject: Favorite Guitar Solos > From: Bill Montgomery > Date: Thu, 26 Oct 2000 21:53:40 -0500 > > Another notable guitar solo that is definitely worthy of consideration for > one of greatest ever would be Jeff Baxter's work on Steely Dan's "My Old > School". I also want to applaud the choice of the solo on "Something About > You". IMHO, Skunk Baxter's best solo was "Bodhisattva". Hey, now that would really make a cool band name! Boon's guitar solo on "Something About You" was a prime example of the way he's able to express himself with melody and substance instead of monster chops. Another good example is "Two Solitudes", which sounds awesome newly-remastered. ------------------------------ Subject: DVD or VHS?
