From: Savagerush @ aol.com Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2000 06:31:10 EDT Yes...I admit, a Level 42 reunion (in any incarnation) would be spectacular, but I have to say...and I preface this....I love Phil on drums, Boon on Guitar, and Mike on Keys, but guess what? Without Mark it's not Level. I know, I know...I'd pay to see the Trio of MBP, but please.... I guess I'm just a Mark fan...What can I say? I play Bass...a familiar brand to most of you... Don't mean to piss people off this time, but I'd rather see Mark and Mike and any combo of the other members of 42. That being said...Come on you guys....get together and Jam...record it...and damn it, I'll buy it on your website!!!!!! From: "ztavendl" Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2000 13:48:45 +0100 Hi Levelheads, just thought I'd say to any of the digesters waiting to jump on anyone if they mention the slightest thing on bass guitars (please dont take that offensively!) I bought a Jaydee a couple of months ago, and it is simply a wonderful instrument. I went into the bass centre and was looking for a Supernatural (cherry red) but was disappointed that they were sold out. So there was only a Roadie and a Seven Dwarves left. Now, if anyone knows Jaydees, the Seven Dwarves is that little bit more expensive at the moment, so it was really out of the question. However I plugged away at the Roadie, and I am so pleased I left with it. It was £695, with a good quality case and an extra pack of strings, and it looked, sounded and played beautifully. Still prefer the Red to the Brown though! Spandau Ballet were on it, and I must admit it was good. It is a new series about Eighties Pop music, and, its just a thought, but what if, I mean, wouldn't it be......., great if Level 42 were on it! I know next week Dexies Midnight runners are on it, but give us a shout if anyone knows anything about it. I found (after searching for approx 5 months !) a great mix from "Heaven in my hands". The single cd was released in '99 , but unfortenately not available anymore. The famous Dutch Dj Mark van Dalen mixed the great horns in HIMH to a great dance beat called "Heaven". I will let you know how im gonna distribute this song in a few days. cheers willem. ------------------------------ Subject: homepage... Also worth a look for odd stuff is the guy who is under the indoor market further along from Circular. Turn right as you come out of Circular, travel about 200 yards, just past the indoor market turn right and go down the steps into the "cellar" Bit smokey but he does a good collection of 7" plus the odd 12", last time i was in he had a Mint Physical Prescence 12" for £4.50. Payne" Date: Thu, 07 Sep 2000 13:18:18 CDT Hello ALL, I just (well yesterday) ordered my ALL 5 SETS of the reissues from http://www.hmv.co.uk and only paid £47.10 (US$68.30) that included postage (Swiftair) and the cost of the dics LESS VAT!!!!! (Thanks DAN for that info) VAT is deducted automatically for US and some other contries, although the actual price on their site was £9.99, US residence can buy it for £8.50/set, plus choice of postage method. I just received my confirmation that it was posted this morning and should be in my hands in 3-4 working days. So NOT BAD and not that expensive either! I hope that this helps someone out there get them as well! Now, I should preface this by pointing out that Level 42 is my all time favourite album, and that I have little time for Q's rather timid and predictable reviewing style. But you know that comment about test card music, well I stuck it on yesterday and tried to picture pages from cefax, and you know, I reckon they're spot on. Now, I presume a few of you out there have that Trace Elliot compilation CD that came out a few years back, the one with At This Great Distance on it. Well if you do, does anyone know who Kevin Brandon is, and whether the track Strayte Ahead is a deliberate piss take, as it's probably the worst upright bass playing that I've ever heard. There are several reasons for this cancellation, mainly due to the lack of participation due to Mark's tour (two weeks later). I totally understand that given the two options, that people would want to see Mark King tour instead of coming to Texas. I will keep this email address open for those who want to attend next year. Until then, I will see some of you in London this November at the Jazz Cafe gigs. Kind Regards, as always... From: ALBERT42 @ aol.com Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2000 22:40:27 EDT Hello, The news article on Level 42 said that the reissues would be released worldwide. As of yet I haven't any US made CDs online or in the stores here. I'm not wanting the US made discs because I don't like imports. I'm just wanting them because I think they would be a bit less expensive. So for I've found plenty of imports but the prices that I'm finding are between $20 to $25. This means that I would end up spending close to $150 or more for all of them. I wouldn't mind spending that kind of money to "further the cause" but I'm not able to at this time. If anyone has spotted US made CDs at stores or a better price on the imports please let me know. I don't mind ordering online but I'd prefer to deal with an online merchant based here in the states. I'd appreciate any help you might have to offer. Thanks, Albert42 ------------------------------ Subject: From: "chris doney" Date: Fri, 08 Sep 2000 05:16:57 BST Just got back from a weeks hols.... Mike P (hat?) Mark B - re my comments on kids at gigs (196) - 'twas indeed a jokey comment, but you may disect/take it anyway you wish. However, for the record, I love the idea of kids at gigs and welcome any age group to enjoy something as special as a Level/King show. Perhaps comments should come with warnings when contributors are fooling around, then you can preach with confidence when comments are serious, or ignore them. Incidentally, If I want to discuss 'my problems', I will find a much better venue than this! I suspect you dont have the credentials for psychoanalysis. I'm off to learn all about political correctness now. Then I will make a start on getting out a bit more. Thanks for your advice. I've only subscribed to this digest for some six months, and have enjoyed the regulars' contributions, (AG, Win, Lisa etc.) but I am sickened by the PC vultures waiting to pounce on any comment, joke, typing error, or opinion that doesn't match their own. Don't bother responding, I've unsubscribed before you read this. And they'll sound four times as good and be eight times as hard to find in the stores as they are now. the names of these two groups are still a bit of a problem though. somebody will have to choose level 43 or level 41. hmmm . . . . .how about level 42.5 or level 42 1/2 ? no, wait! maybe level 2000. mark O. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
