From: dirk.vael @ lu.arthurandersen.com Date: Mon, 28 Aug 2000 12:41:10 +0100 Checked last friday biggest musicshops & some specialized shops in Belg= ium (Brussels & Antwerp - Virgin, Fnac, Gaite, Bilbo, Metrophone, ...) Not a single trace of the reissues, just the same old stuff over & over= again, plus all those cheapo rip off compils (at least 6 different ones, inclu= ding RITF, weird one, as mentioned by Norman, still cheaper here in Belgium (about 3,5 quid)) No-one knew about re-issues of this group they called "oh, Level 42? Um= m, haven't they split years ago?" Same in Luxembourg. =A0Some shops carry virtually everything, but not a= trace of L42 reissues. =A0Other group reissues like Sting, Dire Straits, Beatles= are everywhere! What a crap situation, I'm pissed >:( Will have to buy through Internet... silly! *******************Internet Email Confidentiality Footer***************= **** Privileged/Confidential Information may be contained in this message. I just wish that they would have included the song lyrics (just for the benefit of the first-time buyers). As someone who has personally corresponded (and traded) with Carl Mueller and Winston Walker, I would like to say how cool it is to see them credited on the the back cover of the re-issues. They're both great guys and certainly deserving of such praise. Congrats, guys! :-) Also, thanks to everyone else involved with getting these re-issues out, and as someone else has already said, it's like buying Level 42's albums for the first time all over again! :-) tcoy, Jason (& Sherry Nuckels) :-) P.S. - Whassup to Brian! :-) ------------------------------ Subject: CD graphix solvage From: EMIKATIE @ aol.com Date: Mon, 28 Aug 2000 13:12:39 EDT Millar writes: > am looking for anyone in the dublin area who has the digest cd's, namely as > years go by, past and presence and unreached levels? > > i got them copied for me recently but am without covers. someone, winston i > think, gave me an internet link where pdf's could be downloaded but these > are not very high resolution so don't look the best when printed. Millar, I simply bought some glossy inkjet photo paper, set my printer on highest quality and printed out the graphix. They turned out better than I could have imagined. The pdf files on the "site" are not the cause of the poor results. Sure, the photo paper is tres expensive, but then the CD's you refer to warrant it. For my other CD booklet needs, I use cheap laser jet paper and set the printer quality to economy. Sometimes I even print in grayscale :-) Before you rely on the kindness of strangers, give it a shot and I'm sure you'll be satisfied. From: Michael Thomas Payne Date: Mon, 28 Aug 2000 13:19:36 -0500 Hello again, (UK Digesters, or anybody who knows officially) I seem to remember the debate about children not being allowed to attend, or gain entry to some of the venues that Mark is playing, could somebody PLEASE clarify this issue, as besides the Jazz Cafe (18 yrs old rule), the other venues I have no knowledge as I haven't bene there to see a show. Websites and/or phone numbers would be helpful and I could phone to get the info myself and I will post it to the digest. Again, THANKS in advance for your help in this matter....... (some are hard to come bye this side of the world) buying any stuff from other countries , is not a good option now, the pound is worth 10 times our rand and the dollar around 7 . p.s there's someone on the digest who will be visiting south africa soon. i'm sorry i did'nt get your e-mail address. please will you e-mail me arnold @ lgtools.co.za bye for now. arnold ( i wear my soul with pride) ------------------------------ Subject: Glue Factory From: "kevin mooneyy" Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2000 08:24:23 GMT Just got the TC/WM CD from Virgin Tot.Ct.Rd. They seemed well stocked apart from the elusive POA/SITL. Can't comment on the sonic quality, as my ears are only 16-bit, but heck! What a blast to hear 'World Machine' without having to place a house-brick on top of the pick-up arm. To Tom Trudell "What does "knackered" mean?" ...adj. Brit slang. exhausted; v. tired (1885-90),see also Knacker n. a person who buys animal carcasses or slaughters useless livestock for a rendering works. I may be forced to take up this noble English trade again to afford the rest of the re-issues, if they're as good as this one! Must sign off now, as I'm feeling a little horse. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
