So, out to pick up the Early Tapes/L42 re-issue this morning (I only joined this list in the first place to find out if F&E had ever been officially released on CD, so I guess I'm free to leave now). Got back home, and what should be on the mat but the latest Martin Taylor, Kiss & Tell (named after its title track composed by the equally wonderful David Newton). Which one to listen to first? I'll leave it to those of you familiar with my sacrilegious disregard for congruity to guess. From: Rick Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 07:08:14 -0700 (PDT) Hi there all! Please excuse my ignorance for this question but is Trash 2 out and available to buy? I have not been able to keep up with the digest due to various things! I have Trash & Jazz Cafe CD's and would love to get Trash 2 (if it's be recorded and ready to buy!) If so, do I buy this the same way as the others by sending a cheque to Joe Daflo's? How much would this be and also, would this be ok to send it there as I gather that Mark sold the bar? If anyone can help me on this I would be a great help as this will make my day!!! Cheers all, Richard. :) "http//:fly.to/zarg" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! From: Daniel James Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 08:21:14 -0700 > PS: Does anybody know if/how an .MP3 can be converted to a > .WAV file? Hey Shuf! Long time no hear. How's everything down south! Anyway, I'm sure you're going to get a zillion answers here, but then here's another one. If you're using the preferred method of processing audio (i.e. using a Mac), then get SoundAPP. It'll convert to and from a boatload of audio formats, compressed or not. Just configure the output file settings, drop your mp3s onto the icon, select an output directory and you're done. If you're limited to something Microsoft, then Winamp comes with an audio plug-in (Nullsoft waveOut plug-in). Then just add the mp3s to your playlist, configure the plug in to output to the directory of your choosing and press play. Instead of outputting the mp3 through your computer's audio output, it'll dump the file to wav (and since it's not bothered with playing at real-time, it'll process the file as fast as your Pentium can go, i.e. slower than on a PowerPC). If you don't want your machine to crash while processing, then I have no doubt that there is a converter for Linux as well. Sorry, I can never resist, but perhaps I should. ************************************************************ So with that, just my two cents to say that the De Lata gigs in New York were fantastic. Meeting Mike was wonderful as well. I had no paraphernalia for him to sign, so I dug out my New York travelbook. He drew a nice picture of the Seattle skyline (complete with Space Needle) and wished me the best and then took a picture with me. I was very impressed with the band as a whole. It was impossible to distinguish Mike's backing vocals but his keyboard playing was obvious and really added a lot to the music. For those who are thinking about ordering the CD, you should be aware that Mike said he did not play on this first release, but he hopes to be on the next one. Even without him, I think the music stands well enough on it's own. If you like Latin music at all, I recommend it. Other than that, New York was a blast (aside from my getting there which was a complete nightmare with an eight hour delay, 32 hours delay for my luggage and a lost bank card). Thanks to Winston always for the hospitality. It was great to see some old faces again, Viv, Greg, BobC, Lolita, Rich, Al (did I miss any locals?) and to meet Jennifer (hello). And of course Laure who was out from Paris (welcome back to you). ************************************************************ > Some time ago, someone said that there was a site with pics of ppl from > the Digest. Where is it and to whom can i send a pic? I know Morgan had one on level42.com for awhile, but I don't see it there now. It was great to see everyone's faces though. ************************************************************ For those keeping track, I'm tentatively planning on arriving in London (via Eurostar this time) on the 12th of November and attending the first two, possibly three gigs. I *may* try to make it for the Britfest on the 11th, but I doubt it. The good news is that I'll be the only American who's not lagged after having spent a week staying with friends in Amsterdam :) Phew, long post. Making up for lost time I think. ------------------------------ Subject: Favourite tunes / blasts from the past ???... I know that most US fans are leaving on Nov 11, which will place us in the UK in the early AM on the 12th Nov. SO if you can email me or Phil Lee, we can work on getting this date finalised.
