I'm just hoping for 3 from the request list, and possibly something from Trash 2, then roll on the old faves. With our luck we'd get 12 tunes from the 'Live At The Jazz Cafe' cd. In fact, amnybe those jokers will just throw the cd on. :-) Also, if you dont want to read about the Steely Dan set list, is it sooo hard to just scroll down past the tracks? :-) (damn, i couldn't resist that one man) haha Brian, dont hold your breath for the videos to be re-released. Would be great to have DVD's, but seeing as we just got the lp's, it's highly unlikely. Mikey P, good luck with that set list, seems a tad long to me. I'm sure the Jazz Cafe have some kind of limit on how much fun an audience can have at one gig, and that would surely break it. My only hope is that is the audience decides to do a group sing a long, like 'Leaving Me Now', that they at least start singing at the correct spot. :-) Ronald, if that September 4th date is true for Holland, dont complain. The USA wont get them until September 4th either... 2042, is my bet. :-) Win ------------------------------ Subject: gauranteed&forever now From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Kevin=20Esprit?= Date: Sun, 20 Aug 2000 12:52:00 +0100 (BST) hi everyone does anyone know if mark plans to record his jazz cafe gigs and sell them as he did last year?also can anyone please tell me which versions of forever now & gauranteed i should buy,i.e. japanese or what, & on what site can i buy them. cheers kevin esprit ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Who cares... From: "JENNY LINDSKOG" Date: Sun, 20 Aug 2000 14:32:07 +0200 I couldn't care less about this meaningless discussion whether we should have one song or the other, as if it was up to us anyway?? We all have different fave songs, there's no way in hell we're all gonna have our perfect concert. Let Mark play what he wants, be there and enjoy it! I for one, is grateful for any L42 I can get. :) Jennix - Mistress Of The Swedish Lexx-Crusade ********************************************************** Come and join my very own crazy mailing-list Subscribe: AlternativeWorlds-subscribe @ onelist.com Shortcut URL to this page: http://www.onelist.com/community/AlternativeWorlds Svenska LexxForumet: http://fly.to/lexx ------------------------------ Subject: Dream Set / Radio Wales From: "paul waller" Date: Sun, 20 Aug 2000 14:18:59 GMT Thanks to whoever it was the other day who posted the fact that the Mark King interview was on digital Satellite channel 928. I almost forgot though. I'd been to the Stadium of Light to watch Sunderland AFC beat Arsenal 1-0 and was still reeling when at 6:40 I suddenly realised it was on!! I raced home and managed to record the whole thing on minidisc. Mark chatted to Alan Thompson about life and Level 42 and picked 5 of his favourite tracks which were: 5.Sex Machine - james brown 4.Hello it's me - Todd Rundgren 3.European Female - The Stranglers 2.I feel free - cream 1.The wonder of you - Elvis It was a great show and if anyone wants a copy get in touch. It's been a great week for me, first getting to talk to Mark on James Whale's show, secondly Sunderland 1 Arsenal 0 in front of 47,000 fans and third this. I only need simple pleasures!! Following on from my posting the other day, and Mike Payne's, my dream set for November, in particular the Billingham show (hint hint) would be (i've included a good mix of commercial stuff to keep the less hardcore of us happy): Sandstorm (right back to DAZZ4 for an in-yer-face instrumental opener with plenty of bass gymnastics, funky geetah, drums and keys) Something About You (my favourite song of all time and the reason I got into level 42) Love Games The Chinese Way Good man in a storm (this is such a great MK track) bitter moon I feel free Just like that Swimming with the sky (no chance!) changing the guard hells bells 42 I want eyes Runnning in the family Love Wars Leaving Me Now Hot Water lessons in love ENCORE: There is a dog (this would follow on superbly from the main set) Lying Still 88 Ideally the show would last 2.5 hours minimum! Ok, all i need now if for Man Utd to hammer Newcastle 5-1 this afternoon and that'll start this week nicely!! Loz, what's going on with Sheff Wed man? Felled by the mighty Huddersfield - i reckon Paul Jewell was a big mistake! ta ta, Paul Waller ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: Set List with Fresh TRASH, Re-Issues From: Date: Sun, 20 Aug 2000 09:40:21 -0700 Yesterday, Mikey wrote: > Hello It's Me > Note that some of the songs (whatever their names are going to be) from the > upcoming release of TRASH 2 Um, Mikey, do you have something the rest of us don't have? [scroll down if you are easily offended...] I'm not joking: I had to search thoroughly through my collection to find `Lying still'. I just cannot believe that a majority has chosen this song to be their most favourite...... Sorry everyone, but it is only my opinion. I'm more into up-tempo, complex bass line songs. On the other hand, it certainly is a song which hasn't been played live before (because of the risk of mass sleep attack during performance. Both on stage and in front of it.) Well, I think I made my point. I'm glad we're not all the same! Bye for now (back to the bridge under which I use to sleep) Bass regards, Huge Rademaker Get your Free E-mail at http://www.level42.zzn.com ____________________________________________________________ Get your own Web-Based E-mail Service at http://www.zzn.com ------------------------------ Subject: Buying re-issues From: L.F.Green @ shu.ac.uk (Laurence F. L()Z ------------------------------ Subject: +++ BRITFEST 2000 DATE AND VENUE +++ From: "Phil Lee" Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 10:01:27 +0100 Dear All, The date for the BritFest will be Saturday 11th November. The Venue is the The Black Bull, Godmanchester, Nr. Huntingdon, CAMBS. Believe me, its ideal, I've booked their function suite. Its a separate building from the pub, it has a large room for the band(s), with a separate Bar, kitchens & toilets. Loads of car parking space. Its about a 25 minute walk from Huntingdon Railway Station, 5 minutes by Taxi. Huntingdon Station is on the London Kings Cross to Peterborough line. The fast train out of London will get you to Huntingdon in about 55 minutes. Huntingdon is close to the intersection of the A14 and A1/M. The Pub is easily located on the main street in Godmanchester, you can't miss it... This is a nice pub too, they are listed in several good pub guides. They even have their own Beer Brewed. Full details of the venue, accommodation options and travel will be posted on the BF2K website. http://www.bigwig.net/tazmania. Hopefully I'll upload the latest site updates tonight... I am afaid the BF2K site has been unavailable recently due to my ISP having a few problems over the weekend. If this problem persists we will try and move the site over move to Lisa Devlin's MK & L42 site http://www.starchild42.freeserve.co.uk/ ASAP. Phil ------------------------------ Subject: High Squeaky Voices From: "Randall, Steve" Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 10:43:44 +0100 High Squeaky Voices I seem to remember this question being asked about micro kid before. Any voices in high register were Mike doing his falsetto. Seeing them play quite a few times during the currency of that album, at that period there were only four of them on stage. I feel I would have noticed if that part had it been missing as I sing a lot of the level 42 backing when I sing along. As for studio recording it might be anybody, though I still think it was Mike. You would have to find out who was at the sessions. Was it Wally? I don't believe falsetto singing was one of his proclivities. And the first person I believe they employed extra was Andy Mack on sax, and it's quite hard to sing falsetto with a saxophone in one's gob. It is very hard to dump songs like Hot Water and Chinese Way. These songs have a lot of meaning for early fans as there were actually fewer songs at that time. It must be difficult to be presented with such a massive amount of material when discovering L42, some of which is similar and confusing. I have the same problem with new bands to which I am introduced. Also I went to the video taping of Hot Water at Riverside Studios to which all fan club members had been invited. It was a wonderful day out and that song has been encoded into my genes having heard it so many times that day. The only relief was Mark saying that it must be boring to hear the same song again and again so they gave us a mega Love Games, which they should of recorded of course. Maybe it's laying around somewhere! Well done Lisa, instrumentals of which the best of course is Theme to Margaret! Watch me get flamed now! Steve Randall PS Adz - Mail me! I have a rather good picture of you.
