I'll be coming from Vermont, USA for the show on the 12th, and will be flying back on the 14th. Of course, my travel itinerary alone is surely not enough to persuade the masses........hmmm.........hey, did you ever notice how nice the number 11 is? It's so........ parallel........ok, ok, let me think.........hey, I know- Sabine from Germany is coming in for that show on the 12th, and as one of the all-time cool digesters, she would be a lovely addition to any Levelfest.- are you with me people!?!? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? This comes out to 51.75 pounds (about $78.00). I couldn't find them any cheaper elsewhere, especially since AmazonUK was only offering two of the reissues (TC/WM & RINTF/SATS). Hopes this helps the US (and any other) digester! Ive been able to check out 3 of them via the Internet, which is cool. I only caught the last 15 minutes or so of the James Whale show, but that was very interesting. Also caught the BBC Five Live interview, which was pretty good. Some dude rang up to say he hated Level 42, and proceeded to complain about a 15 minute solo Mike Lindup performed. It was sort of hilarious. Cant wait for either of the Lisa's to put the FULL James Whale interview up, as I'm sorry i missed most of it. The others are now on www.forevernow.com, so go enjoy them. Somehow I just KNEW Lolita would get in her annual 'Green Earrings/Steely Dan' complaint!! Here is my take on MK playing the most popular songs, again and again. I'd love to hear some new tunes, but i do enjoy 'The Chinese Way' because it's a great running bassline, and the audience seems to enjoy it. I've always wondered why that songs is played all the time. Is it a crowd fave, a band fave, or a combo of the two. While I do think that digest members make up a big part of Marks touring base, considering that the tours are very short, we have to keep in mind that he does attract a good amount of folks that are coming to hear 'that guy from Level 42', and they are going to expect to hear at least SAY, LIL, and one or 2 others from the past. So the best of both worlds might be that we hear the 'old faves', but we also are gonna get some seldom played classics as well. Cant beat that. I like Lying Still as a song, great to listen to on the album, but I really have no desire to see it performed live. But that's just me, and since I enjoy The Chinese Way, i'll just shut up. :-) I noticed a thread regarding the sound quality of the remasters via the radio. Someone said they sounded 'better' than the discs, due to some 'processing' at BBC. Isn't that impossible? I know here in the states, FM radio is full of so much compression, that the quality is nowhere near cd quality, even the new digital sat stations are great but NOT cd quality. Just checked into www.amazon.com, and cant figure out why they have all the reissues listed, but for different Prices. At those prices it's cheaper to order from the UK, even when you factor in the shipping cost. So far, www.jungle.com is the best I've found at 8.08gbp for each 2 cd set. That comes to 40.40gbp for the set, plus 10gbp for shipping. Depending on the exchange rate (MIKEY?) it's about $73.00 - $83.00 for the full 10 cd set. Not bad at all. Quite a few digesters have already ordered from them, and of course they take all forms of credit cards. :-) later, Winston ------------------------------ Subject: oops - Micro-Kid From: Winston Walker Date: Wed, 16 Aug 2000 12:46:12 -0400 In my previous post I rambled on so much i forgot to ask a question that has been bugging me for sooo long. I asked if many seats had been taken and the attendant said not. A few on the front row had been sold. I brought 3 priced at £15.50 each !! The Palace is undergoing refit at the moment and can not handle credit card orders at the moment, but if you call the box office on 01636 655755 they will reserve your seats and then you can send them a cheque. The venue is small with a circle and stalls but she said the circle would only be open if it was needed. The date is Monday 20th November at 8 p.m. The full address for any one wanting it is The Palace Theatre, Appletongate, Newark, Notts, NG24 1JY. It is easily found off the A1 and A46 mail me for details if required. So , after a great round of interviews What have we learned ? Amongst other things Mark has taken up Golf, he is very happy being a Dad, and he feels Level 42 was right for the time period and could not recreate it now. Shame I suppose, but be thankful that he is still making music which we still enjoy, I guess ! Anyone hear the Radio 5 live interview today ? If you did you would have heard a dickhead from my town ( Lincoln ) slating Level and in particular Mike. The 5 sets are priced at $22 to $27 for each set. At around $125 for everything, its hardly the two for one deal that was expected. But since they are imports, the price goes up. Amazon lists them as a preorder and the release date as Sept 5th. The question is will Audiophile Imports be any cheaper? I don't live very far from where Audiophile Imports is so I will drive down to pick them up if it proves to be advantageous. Actually, the Amazon warehouse is right down the street from me too but I doubt I could make a purchase there. >> I'm in the area as well (Manassas, VA), so it may well be worth the time to drive over. The band had almost 150 songs, so why do we always hear the same old stuff? I understand that these were the hits and crowd pleasers, but it just seems really crazy to me that we have to hear Chinese Way every gig. As I said in a previous post, it has become the 'Green Earrings' [a song played to death by Steely Dan/Donald Fagan] of Level 42dom. >> I just saw Steely Dan at Nissan Pavilion two weeks ago - and I LIKE "Green Earrings". (It was a rather nice concert, but I had to remind myself this was Steely Dan and not Limp Bizkit.) I've waited my whole life to see them and listen to them as a kid in the early '70's and I was almost disappointed. Still not a bad show at all. However, they did not play "Do It Again" as I hoped they would. And yes: "The Chinese Way'? Yuck. (though a cool bassline.) "Lessons In Love"? - Pure pop drivel (yeah, you all worship Leif Garrett -- I know you do! Come and get me! :-) "Love Games"? I like the studio version better. Or, how about those on-line auctions? Heck, I used to work at an auction, and I found a copy of Olivia Newton-John's album "Totally Hot" - the first LP I've ever bought and which I haven't seen in years.
