A. Lemyre" Date: Sun, 6 Aug 2000 07:57:36 -0400 Hello from Montreal, I was glad to be informed that Mike will do a gig here in Montreal.I'm looking forward to it especially because he will play in a very small Club called Tokyo Bar which is great.Unfortunately, there's no advertising in our newspapers for this gig .I hope to see other fans from Montreal at least for this gig if they know about the gig, of course!Anyway I'll give you my comments and I hope to meet Mike again which I think will be very easy to do especially in a small Club where nobody knows you except the person who's writing this email. From: angela armstrong Date: Sun, 6 Aug 2000 06:34:00 -0700 (PDT) This email is geared toward the American Levelheads out there. Would any of you guys know exactly which stores will be carrying the reissues? I've been doing some preliminary searching with no luck. If anyone knows for sure, you can email me a list of stores. By the way, will there be anything else coming out to promote the cds;like posters? Just curious. Bye for now, Angela __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Is there anyone out there who can approach the people who organise Marks concerts to request a venue that people of all ages can attend. I have a 12 year old who I took to the Croydon Gig last year. He thoroughly enjoyed it, and, as I recall, he wasn`t the only youngster in attendance. Since then he hasn`t been able to put a bass down, thanks to the skills of Mike Brooks (plug, plug) So come on Mark, all your fans don`t just drink Rolling Rock from bottles, they drink pepsi and squash too !! and would love to see you play. I messed about slapping with my telecaster, out of pure curiosity a while back - flatwound strings Sounded pretty funky at the time (althought i felt a bit of a weirdo lol) ;o) But i think i'll stick to bass in future, much more satisfying i have to say I agree with lisa - would be nice for mark to play some influences stuff. I found barcelona a bit cheesy (apart from the great bass solo), but the opening funk section is great - apart from i think the bassline would have to be spiced up a bit. bye dale ------------------------------ Subject: Level42 MIDI files From: Cymrusmc @ aol.com Date: Sun, 6 Aug 2000 17:04:23 EDT In a message dated 8/6/00 3:08:13 AM Pacific Daylight Time, Level42-request @ worldmachine.com writes: << Ons sal moet wikkel Ralph - nie meer baie tyd oor nie - ons moet kyk of ons dit kan klaarkry voor die einde van September!! :-) >> This is Afrikaans, right? I love the menu thingy on the front. I was listening the Real Audio files and they have picked up conversations with her and Marcus! Occasionally one can hear a snipping sound like scissors. I do hope that everyone kept their body parts! I am looking forward to the digital remasters on 21 August! How cheap (or what a snip!) With best wishes, Roger. -------- Mr Roger JG Stevens Fourth year medical student University of Aberdeen http://www.rjgs.co.uk/ ------------------------------ Subject: Slave/L42/Jaco P./MK From: ZW75 @ aol.com Date: Sun, 6 Aug 2000 22:58:55 EDT Hey what's up everyone. I haven't posted in awhile, but I have been reading the digest daily. I wanted to tell the lady that asked about that Slave tune "The Party Song" , it's on the Best of Slave w/Steve Arrington CD. I highly recommend that CD for someone who wants to listen to them. I have been a fan of their music for several years. Mark Adams is a very funky bassist and writer. The guy that asked about the Coup D'Etat version on the b side of SAY is a more "instrumental" version. The vocal version is on the European (UK) World Machine CD. It's one of the bonus tracks. It's also good to hear that the reissues are almost here in a few weeks. The debate about the 16 bit v. 24 bit remastering has been interesting. More is better in this case. I just bought Jaco Pastorius' debut CD which has been 24 bit remastered and remixed by Pat Metheny and has two bonus tracks on it "Used to be..." (alt. take) and "6/4 Jam". The latter track is amazing because of Lenny White's powerful drumming. Herbie Hancock is on the Fender Rhodes doin' his thang. The CD sounds nice and clear, not dull like the first issue of the CD. I also heard that Mark King/Jonas Hellborg jam on Napster and Mark was tearing up the blues w/the slapping on top. It seemed as though Jonas couldn't keep up, but Mark gave him some room to do his stuff. You could tell Jonas wasn't pleased since he couldn't keep up "well sort of.." LOL. Sorry about the long post. Take care! Peace, Zanchie ------------------------------ Subject: I made an error From: ZW75 @ aol.com Date: Mon, 7 Aug 2000 01:55:03 EDT Hi all, Sorry I made a mistake in my post about the Jaco Pastorius CD....Pat Metheny only wrote the liner notes, he did not remaster or remix the CD (what am I thinking?). One of the Sony engineers did the work on it.
