I'm not into the heavy stuff like I once was, but his ability to solo (as well as play tasteful lines) shows well in this video... Daryl ------------------------------ Subject: Mighty, Mighty... I've always heard of >what a good player he was Win, Colin and myself went to see Billy doing a bass clinic last year, and he was awesome, it was a pretty small affair (a couple of hundred people maybe), no backing tracks or anything, he played solos, answered questions from the audience and took the time to meet us all afterwards. If you ever get the chance to go to one of his clinics, i'd recommend it, its very interesting. Also his work on David Lee Roth's albums ("Eat Em and Smile" and "Skyscraper") is well worth a listen. >Subject: RE: Level42 Digest V2000 #143 >From: Martin Brindley >Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 12:01:21 +0100 > In reply to Christien talking about the >bouncers, it is normal that photography isn't allowed at a concert, and for >very good reason. It is distracting to the artist and people in the audience >around you. I think the point that Christien was trying to make was that alot of us felt that the bouncers at the Jazz Cafe last year (one in particular) were somewhat "over-zealous" about this - the guy litereally barging his way into the audience in the middle of songs to grab the cameras was FAR more distracting than taking photos would ever be - actually, he was just plain annoying and I know he put a serious damper on the gig for a few of us. Mark brilliantly illustrated this point himself one night at the Jazz Cafe last year where he came onto the stage with a camera and started taking pictures of us! And being ""searched" by a male bouncer on the way in was not very nice for us girls... although.... :) Nah, seriously though, it wasn't very nice. In the past, Mark has never seemed to mind us taking pictures and at the Ryde Theatre gig he was actually posing on stage in the middle of songs for my camera - I got a brilliant one where he stopped playing for a second and let me take a great photo but unfortuntately my camera was a bit knackered so it wasn't good enough for the site. I'll be getting my tickets next week, going to do all the shows again, must be mad. Better start looking for a good place to hide my camera :) Lisa ------------------------------ Subject: Come on down...
