I wasn't expecting that response for a couple of CDs! Thanks to all who mailed me. Copies of the CDs are going out to the first three emails I got through this end. Enjoy guys. ------------------------------ Subject: Live at JC/Forever Now From: "John Moffatt" Date: Mon, 06 Mar 2000 06:44:04 PST Just got my copy of "Live at the JC" which was surprisingly quick as I only posted the cheque last Wednesday. It is, as I expected, excellent. Nice message from Mark as well. I think the "Mark King Group" sounds a lot better than "Level 42's Mark King" and the reworking of some of the songs (such as Leaving me now) adds to the originals. Picking up on another thread, IMHO "Forever Now" is the best album post RITF with "Talking in your Sleep", "Billy's Gone" and "Don't Bother Me" being my favourites. Guaranteed and SATS have good moments but they both lack the edge of FN. That's all. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: LISA!!, Stuart Clayton, Phil, LAW From: "Jay Krause" Date: Mon, 6 Mar 2000 14:58:44 -0000 I have to say that I was glad to see that Lisa had not given in. Well done for keeping your head high! People who do things like that are sad lonely computer nerds with nothing to do with their time. So to that person, were not annoyed at you - were laughing at you loser. Glad I got that off my chest. And I do admire you for not letting us know the person's identity Lisa, I mean I've always been one for eye for an eye, but lowering yourself to their level would let them win. I've not been too impressed with all the bad feeling on the digest recently, (although Goodwin, - your excellent ;-). I'm sure everyone feels the same. Lets hope things get back to normal now! Any news on the stuart clayton basslines book yet?? On another note, just got the video Live at Wembley (previously I only had the BBC TV edit). A couple of comments though. Why do Mike and Mark sing 'livinG it up', instead of the much better sounding 'livin' it up'. I saw they were taking the mickey out of themselves on this song, is this part of that? And doesn't the chant has begun sound dodgy!? Finally, which songs did Phil sing in, and why did he stop singing? Okay, thats it Dale K ------------------------------ Subject: And last but not least... (especialy > the nightfly)) I had a look at the Digest photo section of your site once, and it was damn scary enough without my assistance. People whom I had previously imagined to be svelte, lithe creatures, youthful of appearance and sprightly of demeanour, were in reality leering barbarians, corpulent of girth and balding voraciously (and that was just the girls, ho ho). If Oxford stay up you can have a photo. No need for a public exposure, just tell me privately. I can keep a secret - just ask Alex Friesen, the 54 year old Venezuelan transsexual circus freak masquerading here as. I might have guessed that all your bluster and invective would amount to mere sound and fury, signifying nothing. You big, soft-as-marshmallow, California freakout, peace-loving hippy. AG ------------------------------ Subject: The Blue GB IV Bass - continued! From: "Nick Smith" Date: Mon, 06 Mar 2000 11:43:28 PST Hallo! Yes, my buddy Don is truly correct - I got chance to play the `maple' fingerboard model (as loads of us did!) at the NEC show back in November last year - Alex Carter from the Bass Centre had actually loaned another GB to Mark (this being Alex' own bass - a fine instrument which he let me have a slap on!) but I don't think Mark actually used it. I called Alex last week to see if the `maple-board' bass was still up for sale in Wapping but it has now been sold (anyone out there know who bought it?). Congratulations to Morgan on his recent purchase (another ex-King Status Empathy!). I have just bought another Status Series 2000 (as used often by our hero!) - this particular one is number 27 and it plays really nicely! Any bass players interested in joining the bass clubs at Yahoo (just go to Yahoo Clubs and search on Jaydee, Wal, Status, Pangborn Alembic etc) please do so! Its turning into a great place to discuss all things bass etc! If anyone has any good pics of Mark using any of the above named basses, please send em to me! Full credits given etc. where used in the Clubs. Glad to see Lisa's site back up! Go for it Lisa! I have a copy of Live at Wembley on Laserdisc available for sale/trade/barter. I got it recently from someone in the US and assumed it was the NTSC version; it is not (it's PAL). So if anyone in Europe has a need for this (or maybe someone in the States/Japan who just wants a collectors item), contact me and we can work something out. It's not worth much to me, and I'm no longer playing the collector. Let me know, or I'll probably put it up on eBay. ------------------------------ Subject: Heavenly Heroes From: "BRIAN FOGSGAARD JENSEN" Date: Mon, 6 Mar 2000 23:34:09 +0100 Hello Microkids :-) Does anybody know where the house/dance copyband: Heavenly Heroes comes from ?? I remember not too long aftre I first got on the internet, I read about the remasters that I think had been recently announced, so decided to not buy the rest of the L42 albums I didn't have, but to wait on the remasters. Good thing I changed my mind a few months later. Bilal wrote: > Also, on the subject of an L42 reunion, here is my personal opinion. If they wait too much longer, they will have changed too much and should'nt even attempt it. Brian ------------------------------ Subject: Bass instruction From: "Brian Flint" Date: Mon, 06 Mar 2000 22:48:51 PST Has anyone seen or written any well written instruction on slapping. I consider myself advanced in the art del Marky, but I'm stagnant a bit and it sometimes help to get a nudge from someone else to open the mind. For instance I can do the "32nd Note" speed slap that marks does , but how does he hit individual notes ala Love games intro off of Physical Presense. (That one I could probably figure out on my own) I don'tknow, anything anyone may have might be helpful, just throwing that out there. Hope all is well with everyone Brian ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V2000 #12 From: L.F.Green @ shu.ac.uk (Laurence F.
