Some types label promo tapes arer rare because they have unusual formats (The Remixes, Level Best) these may go for between 15 and 20 pounds. The pro II's were, and still are, great basses. I've had a couple. If push comes to shove though I prefer the SB1000's that they did. I'm not too sure what Aria basses are like now though as I haven't touched them in a few years. If the glove fits, don't change it. I'm still waiting on my new bass, so I've borrowed a F*nder Jazz bass for the next couple of L42 tribute band rehearsals. For the people who want to have a laugh, August 12th at Fibbers, York, UK. Sometime in the afternoon, for more info have a look at www.fibbers.co.uk Regards Jason Bell ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: Crazy Dream From: "Jay Vohs" Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2000 08:21:42 EDT Is there any info on which World Machine version is going to be re-issued? I have both the US and German versions just to keep my collection complete. The German version with Dream Crazy has always been what I consider to be the official version because the US version substitutes a few songs from other albums. I have never seen a record company release CDs 2 at a time like is rumored to be happening with the re-issues. Is this a new idea they are trying? I hoped they would offer a boxed set so I could get them all at once. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: DVD Video From: "D.A.White" Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 14:13:21 +0100 Hi guys, I'm a newbie to the digest so thought it only too polite that i introduce myself....... My name is Darren, a 29 year old male from Essex in the UK. I have been following Level 42 and subsequently Mark King since day 1, so to call me a fan would be somewhat of an understatement !! I'll leave it there for a moment (I will post regularly to the digest) as i have a question for you all Does anyone know where i can get hold of a copy of the "Live at wembly concert" (1987 i think) on DVD, i've been searching desperately, but to no avail :(( Failing that anywhere that stocks DVD copies of any L42 concert will be very much appreciated........ Thanks guys Darren email : darrenwhite @ btinternet.com ------------------------------ Subject: new bass From: "James Watkins" Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 15:07:09 +0100 Your message: also.. I am a novice bass player....can i have some views on Aria pro II basses as i own two and i think they sound cool!... through my trace elliot... but what do you experts think? No-one's an expert - I've been playing for over 10 years. If it sounds cool, and you like it stick with it. If it plays nice and sounds nice that's the most important thing. (By the way what Trace do you play through?) Jimbo ------------------------------ Subject: Yippee! From: "M. Payne" Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2000 09:05:20 CDT Well, after having a "4-letter narrative" weekend/work/move/weather too hot to do anything else here in Texas, I was happily surprised to see Paul Hammonds posting this morning! What a GREAT thing Mark is doing, letting us suggest some possible tracks, I actually had to really think on that as there were simply too many, if I had my way I would suggest that he play every single song he and L42 ever did and make it a 12 hours plus concert, but reality had to drop sometime, so I suggested Lying Still (1), Good Man In A Storm (2), and The Machine Stops (3). Although after that marathon concert (the 12+ hours) I fear that Mark would not have any fingers left as hard and funky as he does, that and if Gary was on drums, his sticks would look like toothpicks afterwards... Anyway, my main posting was to announce that the airlines have loaded some special fares for travel from today to the end of this year, in most US cities for flights within the USA, South America, and Europe. So for those needing help when Mark announces dates for his NOV tour or if you want to come to TEXAS LEVEFEST 2000 in October. TX Levelfest 2000 RSVP info located at the end of my posting. If you want travel/fare info please contact me at my work address (PLEASE ONLY TRAVEL RELATED EMAILS HERE) Michael.p @ mainstreettravel.com and I can give you air/hotel/rail/etc. for whatever function mentioned you want to attend. For you fellow LEVELHEADS out there, this is the evry least I could offer! Well that is all, I can't wait to see other tracks that people have suggested....... (Although, anyone mentioning THE APE....) Best and Kind Regards, Mikey42 ------------------------------------------------------------ TEXAS ROUND-UP 6 LEVEL42 FEST Dallas/Ft. I play in a band who plays music from 70's & 80's, by the way, the bass player plays like Mark King ( with due respect), thanks in advance by your help. From: "M. Just Like That 2. Hot Water 3. Mr. Pink Trash: 1. Just Like That 2. Keep Climbing 3. Throwing 7's One Man: 1. Bitter Moon 2. One Man 3. Changing The Guard Influences: MRS PINK's FAVOURITE ALBUM 1. The Essential 2. Clocks Go Forward 3. There Is A Dog I do not know how many digesters took part on this survey, so it's accuracy isn't clear. Also, on http//:www.forevernow.com Carl Mueller site under the reissues, there a a very small number of people who do not want the reissues, I would like to pose a question to that crowd, WHY? The gig will be at West One Four (used to be called the Orange), North End Road, Fulham, London on Monday 10th July. The doors open at 8.30 and tickets are only available on the door and cost just £5. Howard himself will be playing a 45 minute acoustic set. There will also be solo music from Howard's guitarist Robin Boult. dba, who are signed to Howard's own label and who co-write with Howard will also be playing a set. The Line up is as follows: Helien, Martin Grech, Chrystin, Robin Boult, Jodie (recently signed to Independiente), dba and Howard. Looking forward to seeing you all there, the nearest tube to the club is West Kensington on the District Line. I can also announce that it has just been confirmed that Howard will appear at the Nokia Night Of The Proms. The Nokia Night Of The Proms tours with an 80 piece orchestra and 50 piece choir across central Europe through October, November and December. The tour sells well over half a million tickets in total. Howard has been asked to be the band leader. He will perform some of his own material as well as play keyboards for the whole show. The show will also feature several other major artists. ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V2000 #134 From: TenthSun @ aol.com Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 21:43:27 EDT In a message dated 7/5/00 6:07:06 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Level42-request @ worldmachine.com writes: << The Soul Cages is in my top 10 forever list. >> Isn't it though? God, that's what I call writin' music! Yeah, how about how the drums just kick in right with your heartbeat on the opening of Why Should I Cry? Oh!! Love, love, love!!! This and Diva (Annie Lennox) just rule for me. Have you gotten his latest? And of course I forget the title right at this moment. But when I first heard the cut "After the Rain" I could have sworn Mark was playing bass on that. He wasn't but it sounded like it. And Desert Rose, and Million Years (which actually would work very well with the Octavia Butler sci fi novel Wild Seed about a love affair between two more-than-human beings who can't die) and Stevie Wonder's kick ass harmonica on Brand New Day? Yes, boys and girls, that was Stevie (about damned time he and Sting worked together! Yessss!!!) And if you haven't gotten it yet, get the remix for Desert Rose. It rules and has two remixes of Brand New Day on it. Money absolutely well spent:-) (After all that verbosity aren't you sorry you even replied? :-) ) Peace, Terri H.
