I have emailed Steve Lamacq and posted the question on his Radio 1 site as to who did this mix. I've tried looking at the show playlist on the R1 website but its a week out of date. Its amazing that someone has taken some L42 stuff AND Marks comic intro (cutting out the "pretend" bit!) and mixing it as a track. Big question to the throng of old-timers: At which of the three live shows credited on the album did Mark shout this out? No prizes - just peace of mind. A. Lemyre" Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2000 22:30:25 -0400 I would like to reply to Willem regarding his comments on Nick Beggs. At first, you can not compare Nick with Mark. They are totally different in their approach.Mark is a good slapper, quite good "fingers style" too but can he play Chapman Stick ???? Nick's qualities are not in slapping but he's an extraordinary Chapman stick's player. You should see(and hear) him play with John Paul Jones. He's unbelievable! Jo-Ann ------------------------------ Subject: More Covers From: "Nelson W. Rice" Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2000 11:57:08 -0400 I have some more ideas for covers: Shake Your Booty: K.C. and the Sunshine Band, I'm sure that Mike could do an excellent job with this song and it might even get the crowd to shake theirs. Perhaps they could do an entire K.C. medley!!! Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing: Stevie Wonder, with Mark on Vocals Keep Together: Brand New Heavies, I always thought this song had a L42 sound. Sun Goddess: Ramsey Lewis and EWF TCOY Nelson ------------------------------ Subject: Romantic Level From: angela armstrong Date: Sat, 24 Jun 2000 00:04:42 -0700 (PDT) Now this is a conversation that I can really get into! I think Lying Still is probably the most romantic Level 42 song I've ever heard. Let's not forget Why Are You Leaving?, One In A Million, Three Words (for a more upbeat romantic song), and Staring At The Sun to name a few. I also dig Clocks Go Forward and Swimming With Sky by Mark King. Oh, and I can't forget "Mr.Passion" himself - Mike Lindup. Changes is full of romantic songs - Fallen Angel, Paixao, and Jung just to name a few. Now I think we should start a debate as to which L42 instrumental is the most romantic. Let me start that one off by saying that I think Dune Tune and Gresham Blues should be nominated as the most romantic instrumentals. When I hear any of these songs, I feel like I'm being transported to a quiet, more serene place. They just bring out the best in me, but then again so does every L42 song! Catch you levelheads on the flipside! Angela __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo! After my piece on Will Downing last week, I have now just found out that there is a new album due out on 18 July titled ' All The Man You Need '...................... Fantastic !! .... New albums from him and the new GEORGE BENSON album (which is receiving heavy rotation in my house at the moment), not to mention the forthcoming re-issues from Polydor and it has been quite a good summer on the music front.
