I will be responding to emails then. Thanks Craig Commercial Ltd. ------------------------------ Subject: CKTC From: "Alessandro Maccari" Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2000 05:43:18 PDT To my awareness, CKTC have published two albums, one called "Keep your distance" (1987, containing "Down to Earth") and the second one "Getahead", from 1989 or 1990. They also did a single after that, but nothing else, which is a shame. Cascade and Ordinary Day are two great pieces of funk! Jennix will probably be able to tell you more (and with more attractive words...) Cheers, mac >Several years ago, I heard this tune by a band called Curiosity Killed The >Cat called 'Down to Earth.' Never saw or heard from them again. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: Trash From: "Jay Vohs" Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2000 08:50:14 EDT I look forward to seeing the reissues in the stores soon. Right now I keep my original L42 disks in a safety deposit box and only listen to burned copies of the discs. Its too risky having the originals in the car CD changer. So it will be great to have another set of "originals". I would like to point out that while we wait for the reissues, lets not overlook the disks that need support now. Like the TRASH and LIVE disks on the mark-king.com web site. Now, I think the autograph from Mark was reason enough to buy the disks especially since he used my name so I know it wasn't mass produced. But in the case of the TRASH CD, the title is misleading. I expected a lot of demos and songs that cut off in the middle and poor sound quality. But just the opposite was true. It almost seems like another solo CD from Mark. Kind of like a "free" CD in the sense that I didn't have to wait for it to be released after hearing about it months in advance. So if you haven't experienced these discs, I would urge you to order them and give them a listen. I am in the USA and the disks were delivered very quickly. Plus, I like the direct artist to fan concept and would like to see it continued. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: PLay at Home, Radio Station From: "Jay Krause" Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2000 11:33:43 +0100 Just wondering what the bass mark uses in the Level 42 Play at Home Video in the holiday camp bit?? I've just rediscovered the track You can't blame Louis - very nice. About the Level 42 thing, I have rang up my local radio station many times but only once I got through, and then I was prompted to ask for a song 'I wanted on' lol. I will keep trying though... Bye! Can any of you give me some >insight into them (websites, discography, videos)? Hey! CKTC are great! I got two albums and to my knowledge they didn't do any others. They did release one single under the name Curiosity when their drummer (?) left the band. I remember seeing an interview on MTV about that several years ago. The single was called Hang On In There Baby, a cover I think. After listening to it, I have to say I have not heard this version before. There is only a slight difference, but it sounds different to me. The record number is POSPX 790. Is this version available on any other L42 albums ? As Winston said, it is just the 42nd floor of a building > and the display on the elevator says, "Level 42". Then there's two references. The bass I bought a couple months ago is Mexican made (my 1st bass). Most people were saying the mexi-made Fenders were about as good as the American made. It's the Asian made Fenders one should stay away from. Some mentioned a buzz, mainly on the lower strings, which mine seems to have, and having to set the action. Maybe it's just my playing though. Guess I need to take it in and have is set up, and change the strings that are probably original ('97 or '98 model)? :) Advice? String brand recommendations? This may or may not be the case, but I think I have just about managed to scroll past the set list for the Steely Dan gigs in yesterday's Digest. There was certainly a list of Steely Dan songs, and I can't see why else it would have been there. Now obviously there's a finite number of songs they can play, and I've still got the best part of three months to continue to avoid this, but I'd like to try and go in cold if at all possible. Already I couldn't help seeing two songs they'll play and one they won't. So please, people, don't post anything about the Steely Dan gigs here. Thanks. AG
