From: HAMMOND Paul Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1999 11:26:00 -0000 Hi all (again), > Subject: One Man lyrics dissected > From: alex.friesen @ sickkids.on.ca Alex .. I think you are spot on, my man. I have had a few emails that mentioned the Quetzalcoatl thing, but adding the other two names in there does it for me. Consider the mark-king.com lyrics page updated, with a special thank you to yourself of course :-) !!! > I can't believe what a fantastic song "Follow Me" is. > It's such a fine example of Level 42's talent for arrangement and songwriting. If you think that version is good, you should hear Level 43 play it!!! Just ask Andy Smith, Bill Miller or Will O'Shea!!! > Subject: biogs and birthdays > From: ElSavannah @ aol.com > He is taking me to see Mark in Salzburg in Austria in February. You sure that's not just a late Christmas present to himself ;-) hehehheh! I'll be emailing you soon about some more pics for the site... Bass regards, PH. ------------------------------ Subject: Changing of the Guard From: "Byrdman" Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1999 04:56:20 -0700 This may have already posted here before, but has anyone else noticed the significance of "Changing of the Guard" at the end of "One Man"? Mark wrote it, and it seems full of allusions to "moving on" and leaving the past behind. There's a lot here else that could be mentioned but this letter is coming in early in th AM for me. I know it sounds like grasping at straws, but it just struck me a interesting. "We're only human after all..." He lives in Sheffield doesn't he? ) Boy I am tempted to write, 'Because they're crap' but I wouldn't ever stoop so low! Wood eye? Just out of interest, do most people on the digest own the Boon Gould solo album 'TinMan' (if not why not). Boon will be dead impressed that someone sussed the One man chorous out. Wow...get on the end of that whoever said this Digest has lost it. Alex, top researching - brilliant. You know, now you mention it, didn't Monty Burns give Bart a head sculpture of Quetzalcoatl in the episode where Bart's blood donation saves the old man's life? I'd like to ask all members the following questions: What do you think of Mark's new Fender bass? I think it's ugly and its sound can't reach the sound of an Alembic! Am I the only one who would like to see and hear that Alembic again? Why did he change to Fender? Is it a kind of symbolic end of Level 42 and a new start of his solo career? Can someone tell me the reason? The next question is for al those bass players out there. Do you have bass lines of Level 42 that you can sent me? A few days ago I subcribed to the Digest by my brother's access to the 'net'. Today I finally got my own access to the 'net'. Does anyone have a list of sites that I should visit as a L42 fan? Finally to all the Dutch: Feyenoord wordt kampioen!!! All the Level best.... Anyone else remember how great 'Man' was live at the shows??? It was awe inspiring. 'Two haearts collide' lead to one of the funkiest remixes ever, and their vocals were perrrrfect.
