Do somebody know if it's allowed to take pictures during the shows at the Jazz Café??? THANKS! (...we're only human after all!) Why not pop round and see if you can pick up any L42 bargains! It's well worth a visit as the hall that the fair is in is about the same size as a football pitch (American or soccer!!) If you require further info then phone 0116 2244300 or e-mail VIP events at info @ vipevents.co.uk Happy hunting... Glyn Willett. ------------------------------ Subject: Re-Release? How about just a release? From: "Tim Wojton" Date: Mon, 25 Oct 1999 10:51:30 -0400 Level-fans, How are all of you today? I'm responding to the question of how successful would L42 re-releases be if released today. Let me first say that a lot of them cannot be re-released in America because they weren't released at all. I think it's a damn shame, L42 not being on the air waves over here. Like Jay Krause said in yesterday's digest, their talent blows current "musicians" away. Hell, Backstreet Boys and Nsync don't even play instruments!!! Anyone can jump around like a fool and whine "tell me why-ee." I get quite frustrated hearing people say, "Flea from, like, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers is, like, the best bass player, man," or "Dave Matthews Band is the best band ever." Let me tell you, I put up with this every day. I feel like getting a bull horn and yelling, "You want something that will blow Flea and Dave Matthews away? It's called 'Almost There' by Level 42!" Anyway, now that I vented...moving on. There are multiple songs in mind that I think would've done well (in America) in the last 4 years. The Forever Now album has most potential in my humble opinion. For example, in playing my music (which was first described, by my roommate, as "trash" and "horrible"), "All Over You," "Model Friend," "The Sunbed Song," and "Tired of Waiting," are now being requested and enjoyed by numerous acquaintances. I even converted my roommate into "Wow, "All Over You" is a pretty damn good song. Hahaha Yeah!! Damn right it is! I was happy. Others have enjoyed the energy of "Almost There," and "Hot Water," the spirit of "World Machine," "Something About You," "I Sleep On My Heart," and "Coup d' etat," the jazz/funk of "43," "I Want Eyes," "Out of Sight, Out of Mind, " and so on. You get the idea. There are certain L42 songs that I'm sure can break the mold of Dave Matthews and The Backstreet Boys. The Forever Now album in particular would make the biggest crack. But there's no use in crying over spilled milk. Here's hoping that Mark King takes Europe, and then maybe even America by storm. Good Luck Mark! Vol 2 and 3 of Trash can't come soon enough. Thanks for your time. P.S. Winman: Happy birthday man. If you keep "livin it up" without getting into too much "hot water," or getting "the bends," you will have "heaven in your hands" "forever now." (Slightly off topic) Winamp Skins.....Are there any other Digesters, like myself, that use the Winamp freeware application for playing Mp3 sound files? Are there any of you who prefer to enhance the appearance of the player whilst on your desktops? There's a couple of Skins that have been created with a L42 theme and are available for download via. Forevernow.com. BTW, they are well worth a look. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem but how the hell do you install these damned Skins? I am using the latest 2.5e version and have attempted the install through 'Preferences' > 'Skins' but there appears to be no option to install these tasty looking items. There appears to be no help through the support pages at winamp.com and other users outside the Digest have reported similar install problems. So, my plea is can anyone help? Is there some kind of secret code that has to be cracked to enable this installation? (Topical) Wally Badarou.....Has anyone else heard a recently released 'rap' track that uses 'Mambo', one of Wally's tracks from the 'Echoes; album, as a backing sample. I'm just curious to know the title of the song and the artist who has used it. The one time that I did hear it was in HMV and since the store was extremely busy there were no staff available for me to probe with the burning question. Any ideas? Apart from 'Wiggy' ('hi ya!') is there anyone else attending Ronnie Scott's on the 20th? If so maybe we can fix up something to be able to meet you there:-) Feel free to drop me a line. TCOY Nigel. Is Ronny Scotts in Surrey by any chance? I have a contact there in the Trading Standards Office... I gave a talk at the Washington Judicial Conference a few weeks ago and used my CD saga as an example of what the judges can look forward to in the Internet age. There were at least a few Level 42 fans in the audience. There is yet hope for the U.S. legal system. --David-- ________________________________________________________________________ David J.
